  1. Tim, We should add your photo to the shim bank... Brett's description was pretty good, you will need someone to lift the tail of the bike up to put the washers in. after you loosen the nut till the rear tire hits the ground ps thanks for mine Brett.... Perhaps we could make a permanent sticky of the poular mods... Shim..... bar lift/vfr clips....buell pegs....etc...
  2. I would be interested in the whole system... from the others I have talked to changing the lines makes a pretty huge difference in the feel of the bike.. Those old rubber bumpers we are running for stocks swell alot from what I hear... hehe I said SWELL!!!!!
  3. I did mine with Aircraft stripper. Got it from the local flooring store.. used metal tape to make a nice clean line.. I did mine last year and they are oxidized as shit now.. I tried polishing them with my drill and the compound but can't get the deep pits out.. Can I sand them ?> or scotch bright them ? I don't want to leave any deep grooves, but SHIT this pitting is killing me... And it is annoying the fuck out of Dave which is the only reason I haven't cleaned them yet
  4. Kuryakyn: makes an led controller I used for my led accent lights. Has a steady on and a variable flash mode.. I was thinking of wiring up some 1157 bulbs to my turn signals to make them flash when I need them.. Should be under $50 for the whole set-up... What bulbs are in our turn signals now?? 1035? 1157? I can't remember..
  5. Yeah but I think Mikey's are incadescent bulbs not LEDS... I'd like to be able to mount these in the turn signals, in the mirrors.. but still be able to keep the turn signals.. That way i can keep my headlight steady on and still draw attention .. EGAY LINK
  6. Mounted under the headlight, in that running light space just infront of the high beam .. DO NOT Rig up a trigger system to push/pull people over... egay.. $60 shipped
  7. There was a thread on the old forum aboot the wattage changes.. Going up in the brightness of the bulbs but not too much... Pete in PA ... was that you ? I know I would .. Anyone remember that thread.?? I want to go up in brightness and change to Red... Anyone know the bulb style?? numbers??
  8. I am working on mine.. First I used an empty Saline bottle from the hospital, Now I am using an Enema bottle.. It has a one way vavle and some O2 oxygen tuning.. Zip ties and your done, ' I will show you how once it is all done..\
  9. I was using the Mobil 1 Truck and SUV synth,, 5-40 Old Stuff Buying the JUG 5 qt.. for like $25.00 from Walmart... Then It fell off all the shelves.. couldn't find it .. Now I go to my auto parts store and find.. Mobil 1 DELVAC 5w-40 New Delvac stuff Are they the same? Back of the package says. diesel and gasoline engines.. The old truck and SUV stuff worked great... and sofar I have only ran around the block with the new delvac stuff in .. So if someone out there knows that my engine is gonna blow up from putting diesel oil in .. LET ME KNOW
  10. OOOWWWW!!! Or when you are trailering your bird and the straps don't close just right DO NOT trying to bend a hardened "S" hook with a hammer and strike your thumb 20 min before you plan to leave
  11. From what I have heard, a staple remover... an electric carving knife, and a good staple gun... A bit of sanding and I think you will have what you are looking for.. I would make my way to a bike yard and pick up a junk seat to practice on... although a stocker is not to expensive anyway...
  12. You mean falling down....??? NO!!! Riding down,... Yeah!!! All looks good so far.. Haven't started hotel plans yet, But it will all come together soon enough... See Ya then....
  13. That was my front tire!!!!!!!!!! ... and yes I can back these words up... Thanks for the vote of confindence Rich...
  14. I can gum up my new powers in no time.. I feel like the rear is a load more stable now. This is coming off of 2 rear d205's Stick with the sticky.. if you push hard, let'em wear out.. tires are cheaper than fairings and stator covers..
  15. Symptoms: Cruizing at 4000 rpms on the highway...In 6th gear... Wack the throttle open... She pulls up to 5000-5200 rpms. then lages a bit.. keep the throttle open and she works through the hindering.. but it takes maybe a second or two.. Once she gets above 5800 she takes off again.. I have had this problem last season , but it seems to be getting worse Is this a symptom of Valves.. or Carb sync.. bad gas supply.. fuel pump? 1997 Carbed...K&N Jet kit...K&N filter.. Stock headers.. Micron Slips....16 tooth up front Any help fellas!!!
  16. How do you like it.?? Funny how in the thread they boldly say.. Mount the unit with the cylinder vertical and the horn facing down.or else the unit will not work after some time..... And in the install picks they have the cylinder horizontal with the horn facing sideways.. I want one of these.. think it will fit in the stock horn position?? or tucked in behind one of the side fairings..
  17. Shit that's a long ride to get a quick polish job, You got anything else to offer? You know Rick.. If we could tint out my headlight, I might make the journey.. WhaT DO YOU want in return?? I am gonna go get some fresh polishing pads and give it another try..
  18. I have had the wheel and the compounds for a year already.. It seems that when I use them they leave behind a gummy looking booger.. I then stop the wheel and scrap the booger off with my finger nail, apply more pressure with the wheel and the same thing happens... I may just have to spend an afternoon on my knees if you know what I mean..
  19. The stuff I am trying to remove is not gunk, It's oxidation pitting.. I really wanna get in there with some fine steel wool, or wet sanding.. Anyone know if that wll gouge too deep... I have two nice polishes.. A blue ribbion and a independent, But they only bring up the shine on the parts not deeply oxidized...
  20. What can I use to get into those deep oxidation spots on my polished lips? Can I use a brillo pad or something like that.. I can only polish the same spot sooo many times without the deep pits coming out... Anyone know of a more aggressive cleaner/ scrubber
  21. Aren't you concerned about water.. Or do you just stick your escort in a balloon..?
  22. You should powdercoat the Yosh mid pipes too while your at it. Really looks nice though... Look forward to Sat.. Dave if you ever answer your phone ... I could invite you.. Give me a buzz if you wanna we could swing by white plains for dinner before you take off for home...
  23. HAHAHAHA.. Bob you do have way too much shiz-nit on that thing... Did you take off the hugger yet , cause it is only gonna keep rubbing on your undertail... Well, welcome to the New york Bird crew.. Hope to ride with you soon.. Pete ps . Bob how come you never call any more.. Spring is coming..
  24. I began a jetting debate.. I am a 97, piped jetted and filtered... I went back and forth to my shop tweeking... air ratio mixtures and needle hieghts.. After 3 trips back and forth I finally lost the low end "lag then pop'n'go " prior mentioned.. Mine is now set for low end torque and a 16t up front.. Love the ride, but if you don't have the time or money to get it down right, stick with what you got.. You need yo know what your are doing OR have a shop install..
