  1. Some pics of the headers. I assume they can only be fitted one way? With no instructions it took me a while to work out which pipe fit where and I was worried I'd fitted them incorrectly. You can see where the lower radiator edge has been hitting the header pipe. It has worn a half circle in the lower rear edge.
  2. Yeah I have a 2004 model. I bought the system second hand from a guy that also had a 2004 model so I would have thought they would have sold him an FI system. So why is the carbed system different to the FI?
  3. I removed the right side fairings tonight to replace a plastic panel clip that had gone missing and found the lower edge of the radiator has almost worn a hole in one of the header pipes. When I fitted the system a few months ago there wasn't room to refit the lower radiator support bracket between the header pipes so I left it off and moved the radiator forward. It appears that the radiator doesn't want to stay forward and has been rubbing on the header pipe.:banghead: How have others dealt with this problem? Help please. :helpsign:
  4. OK thanks guys. I have another question. Will the cush drive from my '04 wheel fit the '97 wheel? The reason I ask is because I want the spare rear to fit a touring tyre (Pilot Road) to. Basically I'm wanting to keep a Pilot Power fitted to the '04 wheel for my weekend scratching and then swap to the '97 wheel with the Pilot Road fitted for long trips. If I can easily swap the cush drive then I don't need to worry about different wear rates of the rear sprocket as I'll always be using the same one.
  5. Will the rear wheel from a '97 carbed Bird fit an '04 Bird? [-o<
  6. The guys on the UK forum reckon Honda has released service bulletins in the past stating that fully synthetic oil should NOT be used in the Blackbird. Why I don't know but I've been running Silkolene Race in my bike for the past 8,000kms with no ill effect. Oh and I did this on my dealers advice.

    Pilot Powers

I've been using the Powers since they were released in Oz and love them. Am on my 5 th set now and wouldn't use anything else. Awesome grip in both the dry and especially the wet. I get between 9,000-10,000kms from a front and between 6,000-7,000kms from a rear with my lard arse aboard. That's 100 odd kgs (220lbs for you guys). I've been playing with lower pressures on my last set (32f/36r) and they perform even better at these pressures except wear has accelerated about 20% or so.
  8. I've just received my new Ohlins shock from Dan Kyle Racing. It's an awesome looking piece of engineering. I am currently running the bike with an Eibach 1,000lb spring fitted to the stock shock. I know how to read the Eibach spring code but the Ohlins is a mystery to me. Can anyone please tell me how to decipher the spring code on an Ohlins rear spring? The code is: 01092-79/190 L393.
  9. I run 32f/36r in the Pilot Powers when doing some weekend scatching. When doing longer trips with a lot of high speed riding on straighter roads I up the front to 34 psi and the rear to 40psi to reduce squaring off of the rear tyre. This also applies for riding two-up. I weigh 100kgs (220lbs) but a heavier guy may actually be better off with 42psi in the rear however I would run the front at say 36psi.
  10. Hi guys, Need some help please. A few of us here on the OzBlackbird forum recently did a group purchase from http://www.crotchrocketshop.com. Stuff was ordered 2 Feb and still no show. Anyone had any dealings with these guys, good or bad? Some of us are getting a little worried as to whether these guys maybe a bit shonky.
  11. Can anyone please tell me which HyperPro shock will fit a 2004 Bird? I'm after a shock with remote preload adjustment and compression/rebound adjustment. I rang the Australian distributor and he said they only list an 031-041 with remote reservoir for 1996-2000 bikes. Nothing is listed for bikes after 2000. He couldn't even give me a price. The only thing he could tell me was that the shocks fitted to the latest Blades and GSXR's cost around $1,800 AUD. For that price I'd go with Ohlins as I know I can get one here for around $1,500 AUD. HyperPro's website is crap with no model numbers of the shocks listed and no catalogue to check which shock fits what bike. Can anyone please provide some info? Also which spring is best, linear or progressive? HyperPro sell a progressive spring and some people are claiming they perform better than the linear rate ones like Eibach/Ohlins. So what is the truth?
