  1. Finally got her out for another test run and the weave is still there from ~180-210kmh but then seems to go away up to ~240, even tried dropping the rear PL back two positions and no luck She did seem to corner slightly better on full PL apart from a couple of instances where the back end felt like it stepped out at ~170kmh Well next step I guess is to back some more PL off the head bearings Personally I'd be playing with the rear rebound damping first. Maybe the weave you feel is actually the rear end wallowing due to not having enough rebound damping.
  2. Yep I'm waiting patiently on the pillion pegs myself.
  3. Yep I'm interested as well. The missus has always complained that the Bird pillion pegs seem to be much higher than the ones on my previous VFR.
  4. Hey Para I'd be interested in getting a set of HID's with you. Just need to find someone on this Board to purchase and ship 'em to us.
  5. OK I've searched the forum but come up with nothing. I seem to remember someone had done this mod. Can someone help please?

  7. Yes his service is awesome. When I first completed the RC51 front end conversion I ended up with a leaking brake master cylinder (SP1). I changed to a CBR600F4i master cylinder and he did a swap of the levers for me. The new lever he sent was incorrect (F-14) so he sent yet another one (F-18) which I received on Monday. I sent the F-14 back today. I would have no hesitations in dealing with him again.
  8. Does anyone have a copy or know where I can download a service manual for an RC51 please?
  9. I have run Pilot Powers on my Bird for 2 years and get around 8-9k kms from a front with a lot of twisties riding which is hard on the front. When touring/2 up I run the Power (front) Road (rear) combo for the extra milage from the rear tyre. This is easy as I have 2 rear wheels so just swap to suit. The extra security from running a softer front tyre is worth the higher wear rate IMHO.
  10. Yeah definitely something to look out for when replacing pads. I did the very same thing but didn't pick it up until 4,000kms after I did the pad change.
  11. Doh! :icon_doh: I have now. Dunno how I missed it. Thanks for the info. I have been in touch with Pete over the past few weeks and he has been very helpful. The last set of clip-ons he had fitted were made in Italy but were not ideal either. He suggested maybe get them custom made to suit.
  12. Thanks mate I'll send your contact an email. Just after some additional info if he cannot supply. I am using the 954 upper triple clamp (gullwing shape). Will the clip-on be located above or below the triple clamp? I am assuming when you state I will need 40mm rise that applies to the clip-on fitted above the triple clamp? I'm a bit concerned about clearance with the instrument cluster, especially on full lock and I've noticed some clip-ons have the bars located forward and some off to the side as with the Cycle Cat clip-ons: http://www.cyclecat.com/SandFtypes1-1.htm Any advice regarding what clip-ons to fit would be much appreciated. Oh and one last question. Do you know what the fork length difference is between the SP1 and Bird?
  13. OK I've sent TSR an email asking if these are still available. :icon_pray: Not holding out too much hope though.
  14. For those of you that have done the RC51 fork mod what clipons did you end up using that was close to the height/reach/clearance of the OEM ones?
  15. If your rear tyre has squared off then I would say it's the ridge created by the uneven wear causing your problem. All is OK when upright or fully leaned over but when slightly leaned over you are riding on this ridge which reduces your contact patch with the road and makes the rear of the bike feel unstable. I notice the same thing with a squared off rear tyre. Solution: Stop riding in straight lines.
  16. I run 34f/36r when having fun in the twisties and 36f/42r when commuting/touring/two-up.
  17. I'm in Dale if the improvement is as good as you say it is. :icon_pray: I need to get the front end dialled in to match the performance of the Ohlins shock. I've already fitted preload adjusters (from JAWS), 1.0kg Racetech springs and Ohlins valves (from Kyle Racing) and running 5W oil with 150mm air gap but it's still not there. :icon_wall: Hope this mod will get me closer as I'm not prepared to go the RC51 mod route as it would easily cost me $2,000 - $3,000 AUD, maybe more and then have to deal with the insurance implications of a modded bike with no linked brakes etc.
  18. May seem like a silly question but does anyone know if the rear (pillion) footpeg brackets are interchangable with VFR brackets? The reason I ask is the missus finds the Blackbird a bit cramped as she has long legs. She reckons the VFR was much more comfortable. After looking at the VFR rear brackets they do seem to be much lower than the Birds when the bikes are put side by side.

    Pazzo Levers

That's just what I wanted to hear.

    Pazzo Levers

Anyone got Pazzo levers on their Bird? I saw some recently on a VTEC VFR and they looked very bling. I just got this reply from them when I asked if they had some to suit a 2004 Bird. I think the clutch will fit but the brake does not. The 2003 CBR1100XX brake lever is different than ours, not sure of the 2004. Our brake levers will fit the 02-05 VFR800 but not the previous years. Our clutch lever will fit the 98-05 VFR's Not sure about the CBR1100XX Here is a list of our Honda levers, if your bike shares levers with any of these we can put a combonation together for you. HONDA Our(Brake Part # /Clutch Part #) CB 599/CB600 Hornet (98-04) F-18/H-626 CBR 600 F2,F3,F4,F4i (91-05) F-18/H-626 CB 919 (02-05) F-18/H-626 CBR 900RR (93-99) F-18/H-626 CBR 929RR (00-01) F-29/H-626 CBR 600RR (03-05) F-29/Y-688H CBR 954RR (02-03) F-29/Y-688H RC 51 (00-05) F-29/H-33 CBR1000RR (04-05) F-33/H-33 VTR1000F (98-05) F-18/H-33 (Firestorm/Superhawk) VFR800 (02-05) F-18/H-33 Regards Markus sales@pazzoracing.com www.pazzoracing.com I'm not sure whether any of the above levers is the same as the Bird. Anyone over the pond got any idea?
  21. The Pilot Power front/Road rear combo is popular here in Oz as well. I have a spare rear wheel for the Bird and run this combo when touring/two-up. I normally run the Powers front and rear for scratching/shorter rides.
  22. Got my radiator support bracket refitted with some modifications. I ended up grinding the lug off the end of the bracket which left me with a hole so I then bent the bracket and bolted it to the lower fan mount on the radiator. Now the radiator has a 5mm clearance from the header pipe. After all my problems with the radiator support bracket I don't have the centrestand clearance problem with the exhaust.
  23. Yeah it looks clean now cause I gave it a big clean up when I fitted the new system. It was pretty grubby before that. Thanks for the advice Redbird.
