  1. I thought Alanb and others told me they have dragged their fairings in corners, due to lean angle. When I was swapping out my lower side panels I noticed scuffs and scrapes due to leaning over too far. Anyone found a way to eliminate this headache? I tried shimming my shock a while back, but according to some, I may have put the shims in the wrong place......I put the shims under the top nut as it comes throught the sub-frame.

    Frame plugs

My neighbor has a customized Harley that had brake caliper inserts which I really liked. I found them in the Kuriyakyn catalog, (JP cycles), part #8160, $15.00 Above is a view of the right side of the bike, below is the left side of the bike. I ground the frame plug on my grinder to fit flush. I used a fairing bolt, threaded into the stud in the small frame hole. Originally I had purchased a chome plug, (for the small hole - but it didn't fit The small frame plug was lost on a test ride; I forgot to glue it in DOH!) Lastly, now that the bike has a Silver Bullet look, please note the "Custom" axle caps, held in place by a dab of glue. If they fall off I can make more.
  3. I'm not sure what year Honda started adding the cats, I know my 1998 carbed 'bird didn't have them. And the 2002 pipes "XX" David sent me had them....................(Then again his bike is most likely a California model.)
  4. I have to second what Joe said. The only difference would be Honda OEM exhaust had cats in the mid-pipes; which D&D doesn't install in their aftermarket units anyway.............
  5. Sanch, I'd have to research the law regarding the "juice", haven't ever encountered it, or thought of it. But I'd imagine if you got stopped the least of your worries would be the "Juice", I think the Reckless Driving ticket would be more of an obvious problem. The same logic was applied reference my license plate lamp............or lack of!
  6. Santiago, That is AWESOME! I have got to see it!
  7. I used the Canyon Dancer to trailer my bike from Seattle to Sacramento, worked perfectly, not one complaint. (Other than they are over priced.)
  8. Jim, Did you get the clear front lenses? (And boil the yellows out?) If not, condensation may be a factor........not sure how coolant could get that high up. I also find that water runs out from behind the turn signals for some time after washing the 'bird.
  9. I'm up for frame plugs, polished aluminum of course!!
  10. The sleazy seven sluts keep the 7 dwarfs real happy though!
  11. Have any of you guys/gals with the Corbin Smuggler done anything to modify it? It appears items would fall out the tail section "vent" holes without a proper bottom. Not sure if a Tupperware tray, or a some kind of netting is the way to go?
  12. Peter, Thanks alot! The Smuggler is now a definite keeper!
  13. Found out a friend of my wife's works in a body shop. I can get my Smuggler painted for $60.00, from Titanium to Black. Question is..............does anyone have the paintcode for a black 1998 'bird? Thanks in advance, your humble servant, or..................I guess I could just sell the Titanium set-up??????? (Paid $325.00 plus $30.00 shipping.)
  14. Steve, nice comparison pictures. A firefighter I work with bought a 2002 VFR, and wants to install his new helibars. I'm going to offer to help with the install, and see if he will let me dispose of his stock VFR bars for him!!

    Sprocket Changes

Phil, I really do understand your anger, I was written a $250.00 ticket by a Park Ranger in January. You are 100% correct, tickets are merely revenue generators. The State of Washington is attempting to increase the standard fine of $86.00, for Rules of the Road violations, to $102.00. This change would mean a 304% increase over the fines of the early 1980's!! Luckily speeding is not a crime in Washington, merely an infraction. I've been considering the helmet, but have been skeptical of the small sun visor. Thanks for the write up.

I thought ghey's sucked ass?? Any time you get a ticket it sucks ass. Just consider it a $149.00 speedometer calibration!

    Sprocket Changes

Dropped one tooth on the front. More torque indeed, but I'm not as impressed as other reactions I've read. 2nd gear wheelies are bragged about..........I haven't had one yet. (sound like a woman talking about orgasms.) Are you 2nd gear wheelie boys clutching it up, or merely rolling on?
  18. Took this from Carlos' web site: Squid: Any person who rides his motorcycle more aggressively than you. Usually riding the crotch rocket too fast, switching erratically from lane to lane just to get there 5 seconds before you, wearing shorts, sandals, sunglasses and tank top, with his girlfriend with bare feet and a bikini top hanging on wishing she'd taken her mother's advice. Often changes species to poser, depending on mood. Click here for an example of a squid, and the story of his death. Squidly: An act befitting a squid, but not necessarily meaning the perpetrator is a squid. We've all done a squidly act or two on our bikes, particularly in the presence of a female pillion or spectator, but if you make it a way of life you are promoted to full squid status Having been in the Army, I know what a Naval Military Squid is: Intense desire to get drunk and stupid the first port you tie your BGB, (Big Grey Boat) up next to!! Tim
  19. I am a city cop, so it's doubtful, if not impossible for a bike to hit 175 in my jurisdiction. However, a WSP Trooper would definitely arrest the operator for Reckless Driving and impound the motorcycle. So, beware of WSP, Triple A, (AAA) with a badge. Reckless Driving in Washington is a mandatory appearence before a judge, with the possibility of a large fine, $1000.00 and time in jail. To answer your question, if I pulled a squid over for 175 on a city street, I'd most likely be forced to take some enforcement action, or he/she would most likely be dead very soon. I have NEVER written a sportbike rider, though I have pulled squids over for wheelies. (Guy told me, "having problems with my clutch officer.") I have written a couple tickets for no motorcycle endorsement, no helmet, and exired tabs on a moped.
  20. Nice garage door opener installation! Is it held in place by Velcro??
  21. By the way, using Microsoft Internet Explorer at home, rather than AOL, increases my chances of a post success by about 50%
  22. Joe, Would leaving myself "logged" on at work, i.e., failing to "log out" cause me to have "invalid sessions" at home? Never did before....................... Tim
  23. I've been absent as using the "new" computer at home just doesn't work. Tim
  24. Nothing like a clean bike! When I was at motor school the instructors had white glove inspections, "Oh, you have some road grime in the inside of your front fender!" Well, no shit................. Tim T2
