  1. Slammed trying to get my house on market, but in the next few nights, I'll get together a listing for sale of all the XX goodies, including the Carrozzerias. Good stuff, near mint or even new.
  2. See discussion in 2014 about the Carrozzeria wheels for FI birds:
  3. I've been away for roughly 5 years, I think, and I've become damn near computer illiterate since then after switching to an Apple platform. Please bear with me - not even sure my PMs will work here (try exskibum@hotmail.com if you don't hear back from me on a PM). I haven't had an XX since selling my '03 in 2014 and haven't even been riding the FJR much the last few years. Needing to declutter to sell the house, I'm FINALLY going through all of the shit I have accumulated. So, getting rid of it begins. The following is posted on the FJRforum, but in the next couple days, I have nice XX items that I will be posting here (clear anodized Carrozerria wheels, Micron 4-2-1 pipe with CF cannister and PCIII, Pyramid CF hugger, PAIR plate eliminator kit, HID lights new in box from Group Buy, OEM rear shock and more - low or no miles on most.) Until I can take a moment to get that together (under gun from Realtor now), however, here's the ad for other stuff that is already up at FJRforum: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Time to thin out the garage and closet! I cannot post photos but will send via e-mail or text. Will ship to lower 48 states only: 1) Two (2) working STARCOM ADVANCE units, plus multiple cabling, headsets and other Starcom accessories/wiring. (A couple or three of the many headsets may not work, so you’ll have to test for those that do.) There is a handlebar mount master volume control, a push to talk radio switch, multiple connectors, etc. Presumed use is likely to existing Starcom users for spares, esp. headsets. I have not used any of this in a few years, and am offering the whole shipped for $30 (expected cost of shipping, so: more or less free). SOLD/DONATED 2) CYCLEPORT KEVLAR MESH two-piece suit, black/blue to fit 5’4”, 100 - 110# woman or child, with wind/water-proof liners and upgraded Quad Armor. (Tri Armor for hip and sacrum pads only; the cost for quad armor upgrade was higher than my asking price.) It’s the Riva style suit (~$1,600+) with blue stretch kevlar pocket flaps and accents on black kevlar mesh with silver reflective stripes across upper back and down legs, xlnt condition, worn only 16 times (barely broken in). $225 includes shipping. 3) RPHA-10 (premium HJC) HELMET — near mint, size SMALL, full face helmet, Silver with clear and blue iridium face shields. Used 5 times, was mounted with Sena SM-10 since removed. $125 includes shipping. 4) SIDI Gortex VERTIGO MEGA BOOTS, black, size 46 (11.5 - 12 US), slightly wider than most Sidis. Near mint. Originally over $300 new, I bought them in same condition for $200 + shipping in Nov 2011 on this forum (seller said he wore them a couple times but they were too big for him). I wore them on 3 short rides: an outstanding boot for a sport bike, but the upper leans a little too far forward to be comfortable for me in the FJR's touring position without changing shift lever height. They are like new. $130 includes shipping. 5) ALPINESTARS TECH 2 tan/black Off-Road BOOTS size 45.5 (11 US), 2 buckle closure, hiking boot height, very stout. Xlnt condition - bought new summer 2007 and have only 1,100 miles on them over next 16 months. $75 includes shipping. 6) Gen.I (’03 - ’05) OEM FJR SEATS in near mint condition (taken off 8 months and 5,500 miles after new purchase). Stored in plastic bags in the garage rafters since. Make Offer plus shipping? SOLD 7) Two (2) Wrapters for long hair in original packaging: 1 blue (used once) and 1 black (unused). FREE 8 ) SPOT TRACKER 2 - New in box, never opened (in ~8 years), never registered or subscription opened. $20 includes shipping. Please PM for info or photos.
  4. I will be back after June 10 with my set of clear anodized Carrozzeria wheels to sell. There are currently FOUR board members with dibs (from PMs they sent me) in line to buy them. I'll contact them by PM and WILL honor that order. I will also post a classified thread with pics that include the wheels (subject to pre-existing dibs) and many other desirable goodies that will have pics and prices. I don't want to start another dibs frenzy on that stuff now. I am slammed between now and then. My FJR is not running with electrical and other issues, plastic is off, parts are ordered, new tires are mounted, but it MUST be running by month's end and ready for a 2,500 mile tour. On top of other shit and some thief motherfucker having gotten hold of my credit card info (since cancelled) and ordering a metric shitload of costume jewelery from Beijing that fills my roadside snail mailbox regularly, I'm the route plotter, lodging reserver and otherwise solo captain of a 3 rider tour with 2 bikes to prep for it (mostly done with one -- the XX). The parts are off, as yet un-photographed (I ordered a new digital camera last night and am switching from a windows to mac computer with a learning curve). The XX now belongs to a good friend who is going through a fucked up divorce with an uber-narcissist who throws tantrums like a 12 year old -- he badly NEEDS some motorcycle therapy and hasn't been allowed to own or ride motorcycles for 22+ years. I'll post up with sale items after June 10, but there's a dibs list for the wheels.

  6. Adding to what Hank said: In that group buy, the black, gold and clear (silver) forged aluminum Carrozzeria wheels were supposed to be anodized, NOT polished. When the first couple sets of clear (silver) came out, at least one member discovered that while the black and gold were anodized, the clear were polished. Shit hit fan, and Carrozzeria's guy (Mazzo?) agreed to do the clear anodized as originally promised. Some polished clear wheels were returned for that, some members got pissed with the switch and delay, and just got their money back. Mine were not yet shipped, so I waited an additional several weeks after insisting on clear anodized, which is what I got. Not sure how many polished sets for the XX are out there. My only spacer problem was with an internal spacer on the rear wheel -- between wheel and drive hub. I got a gold anodized spacer that was maybe 1/8" or 3/16" too thick. I was advised to mill it or sand it down -- I spent a couple hours sanding it by hand with emery cloth on the concrete garage floor, until it fit perfectly. I never had any other issues with them.
  7. I thought you bought the Carrozzeria wheels from G2 in this thread: http://www.cbr1100xx.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=82279&p=962627 Assuming you had bought that set, I mentioned I'd have some to sell. But then I got Big Bird, vrodguy and CALCXX in line per PMs in that order to buy mine. My clear anodized Carrozzeria wheels are off and clean, other farkles are off, Bird is sold and gone, but I have neither taken pics yet nor put together prices on the farkles (other than the wheels I said I'd sell for the same price G2 was asking). I have computer and digital photo issues right now in addition to a motherfucker who somehow got hold of my credit card number and keeps getting costume jewelery from Beijing shipped to my house. I'm slammed with obligations and problems to solve PLUS having a 10 day MC tour in 3 weeks with an FJR that isn't yet running or fully prepped for the trip. I should have all the XX farkles up for sale after June 10, but intend to honor the order of dibs taken on the wheels. The wheels are a bolt up to the F.I. XX, but use a Kwak ZX-12 (IIRC?) sprocket and the OEM spacers (plus a couple more) on the OEM axles. On mine, I foolishly went with a 46T rear sprocket instead of the XX stock of 45. (Rolling eyes at the expected minor lowering of ratio -- if I'd kept it, my intention was to get a Kwak steel sprocket with 45T like I should have when I bought the wheels -- all I really accomplished with 46 teeth was to reduce chain adjustment space.) Wheels have 9K miles on them. Again -- I'll have time after June 10 and will be selling numerous farkles I'll list and price with photos then.
  8. No shit. Ya can't go wrong buying Dave's cast offs. Always better than new.
  9. Damn that was fast, even for you, Dave. Seriously, though, what are you thinking of replacing it with? (Need to get in line early for the eventual high performance replacement bike sale, . . . now that you have the occasional farm equipment farkling project out of your system.)
  10. Tough to guess without hearing it and knowing what you mean by "rattle". And I'm getting senile, so even recalling whether it was in relation to my '97 or '03 XXs or to an FJR eludes me, but why do I want to guess "Clutch Basket?" ??? Seems to me it was in my '97 XX that I had some clutch noise idling in neutral. Is that the kind of thing you're talking about?
  11. Thanks, Joe. And from a different thread long ago about the change for the '99 model year (i.e., for all FI birds): Therefore, these wheels are for '99 and later birds.
  12. Will PM when I have time, but NO, my wheels will not fit a '97 (I had a '97 before I bought the '03). The front wheel is different, starting in '99 or 2000 (I need to go back to the faqs and check when this changed) -- different disc carrier and mount holes, IIRC. I was originally ordering from the group buy for my '97 and had to change the order (front wheel discrepancy) during a delay in that group buy when I bought the '03 and decided to sell the '97 and farkle the new (to me) '03.
  13. Hehehe -- it started out that way. Just seeing how long it'd take for those things to get snatched up. Congrats on the sale. They are gorgeous wheels. Oh -- and . . . thanks for stirring up interest in them while I was still sitting on my ass. My best friend gets to ride again once his divorce is final (4 weeks at earliest), and my soon to be ex-XX will be a LOT better to him than his soon to be ex. I guess I better get to taking my Carrozzerrias off the bike, take some photos and start prepping my FJR and XX for that June Utah Nat. Parks tour we've been talking about. I've always known I'll miss the XX and its bling, but it's time and it's going to a good home where I can still ride it from time to time.
  14. If the sale to racer212 goes through, and you still want the exact same clear anodized wheels, 10K miles and no blemishes (I always mounted my own), but no extra set of spacers and 46t instead of 45T on the rear sprocket, mine will be available for the same price -- but I don't want to hijack G2's thread . . . so his must sell first. I'm trading my '03 XX to a friend without the wheels as soon as his divorce is final, so I still have to change the wheels out. I might also have a 4-2-1 CF Micron system for sale (see pic of bike in post #9, above). I'll start another thread when the time comes, but thought I'd note there will be another set of Carrozzerias available IF G2 sells his set here first.
  15. Just to show what the same wheels look like on a black '03:
  16. Yes John. I got a 46 tooth rear (+1 tooth) sprocket mounted on my clear anodized Carrozzerias on that group buy, and the sprocket was for a Kawasaki ZX12 bolt pattern. EDIT -- oops, just posted and see that you already got the answer.
  17. Dayum!!! Go Rick! You are really on a good path as habits go. No reason ever to stop now.
  18. Conga rats to the board member succeeding to latest sloppy seconds grand bargain from DaveK. Looks like it's going to Wisconsin.
  19. Way to go, Rick! It's inspiration to read about you sticking with it and getting the results you are despite the challenges of a full schedule. I've got it easy by comparison of our time commitments, but then . . . I'm much older. Not to diminish your times, but to share the humbling I got regularly 5 years ago: My then GF (in 2008) and I used to run together with her Golden Retriever -- usually ~6 - 7 miles, about an hour for me. More correctly, we ran together until she and the dog decided to air it out. I'm 61 now, she's 3 years and 3 days younger than me, but still in phenomenal shape -- a world class runner since she was 17 and an alternate to the 1972 Olympic team in the mile (or metric equivalent if that was the year they switched). I don't know what she can run a 10K at now, because she doesn't compete anymore, but she's still considerably faster than I could EVER run it (~8 min miles). During her competitive days, e.g., she ran and won the San Jose Mercury 10K at 33:41 in 1982 (a month shy of her turning 27)! She put herself through grad school running marathons (her natural best distance was 2 miles), won 4 or 5 significant marathons and came in 3rd and either 7th or 9th (among women) the two times she ran Boston, IIRC. I learned some things from her, but it was like watching a Tour Pro play golf -- an entirely different game for her. She used to call me her "Clydesdale" when we ran. Nice, huh? I still ski with her, and though she can ski anything and do it well, I still whup her there . . . until around 2 pm when "Eileen, the energizer bunny" starts to kick my tired, old ass. I'm in awfully good shape now though (175 lbs.), so I'm hoping to hold her off until the end of the day this year. I have never known ANYONE so competitive (or more eager with the needle), so that ale at the end of the day will be much tastier if I can keep her down all day.
  20. Way to go, Rick -- especially taking control and getting back on the plan after backsliding on this saga! THAT is truly the hard part. Keep it going! If we have fat on our bellies, then we have the same yellow-brown visceral fat around our organs, and that's what will kill you. Banish that shit! I've got ~ 5 more lbs of loss to burn the last of it off me, and then will shift to a program of carefully gaining back ~10 lbs of muscle in getting back to what I weighed in my 20s. I swear -- this time, I am NOT going to let it go back up from there. While I've always known how to gain muscle, and the essential role of exercise, I finally understand the hard part -- the eating plan changes necessary to burn the dang fat off in the first place. I'm off to the gym before a day of cutting and hauling wood around the property. Thanks for the inspiration, sir!
  21. Damn, Jon -- that's a lot of motorcycle for the money. Good luck with the sale.
  22. WTF, Dave? Did you sell all your guns in the time I was away? Last I recall, you were running out of room in the safe. If so, fuck me for failing to claim early dibs on the inevitable. :icon_wall:

    Brakes

Very hard would not be normal. I would push the caliper pistons back to be sure that it is the brakes and not the bearings. Thanks dude.... I took the calipers off....pads off....compressed the pistons....bled the line and reinstalled. Seems to be ok now. Wonder what it could have been? Doesn't require much moisture in the brake fluid to do that after a ride on which you use the brakes a lot. Lots of heat gets to the fluid, any moisture gets steamed and will give you that extra pressure.
  24. You'd just get a performance award, Randy. And I suspect it might even be more expensive there than back here in your native PRK. Glad I don't have the spare cash and that it's so far away. I need to sell the XX anyway and use the cash on other things than buying another bike.
