  1. :icon_goodsign: :icon_thumbsup: The ZZZ is the best chain I've had on my XX.
  2. I suggest that you reset your ECU codes and see if the light comes back on.
  3. You use double sided tape to attach it to the tank. It's about 11-5/8" wide at the top and about 7-3/8" tall in the center. Overall height from tip to bottm is about 9-1/2"
  4. I have a used K&N air filter for sale. It's for a FI model. I ran it for about 20k miles. $20 plus shipping.
  5. I have an Art carbon fiber tank shield for sale. Perfect condition. Never installed. $25 plus shipping.
  6. I must have gotten lucky with my SuperBrace. It fit perfectly with no misalignment at all. The bolts almost fell in the holes. I did reset the sag recently. I have about 10mm difference between measurements when I pull the suspension up and let it slowly settle and when I push it down and let it slowly rebound. I think that's an acceptable measure of stiction. I do push my Blackbird pretty hard most of the time and the 'Brace seems to help. To be perfectly candid, I replaced the fork springs, the fork oil and installed the 'Brace at the same time, so I can't honestly say how much it helps. I can tell you the combination of the three was a big improvement.
  7. I didn't measure mine, but I didn't get them to flare as much as the DID link. As hard as it was to press on, I don't think the side plate is coming off even with minimal flare.
  8. I've been running a SuperBrace for the last several thousand miles. I have no noticable increase in stiction and the front feels very stable.
  9. I have a "chrome" EK ZZZ with about 8k miles on it. It's more like a metal flake powder coating than hard chrome. There are absolutely no lube problems.
  10. I have about 8,000 miles on my EK ZZZ chain. The only time I've had to adjust it is when I replace a rear tire. I highly recommend this chain. The nice little shims included with the kit also help prevent over-crimping the master link.
  11. I finally got around to setting mine a few months ago. I couldn' believe how much difference it made. The sag on both ends of my bike was about 50mm(+/-) too. I was so used to riding it with shitty handling that it almost seems like a different bike now.
  12. Here's a link to a suspension set-up guide with a lot of good info. Suspension Set-up Link
  13. The ride height adjuster on the Penske is unrelated to the spring preload. It adjusts the length of the shock rod.
  14. Thanks Chris. I have the parts on order and I'll let you know how it goes.
  15. Thanks guys. I know how the brake system works. I just wondered if anyone had rebuilt a MC before. This is the first time I've heard about anyone having this problem.
  16. Penskes have a built in ride height adjustment. I don't think the Ohlins is adjustable.
  17. I went out to the shop to move the XX around and found that the front brake lever went to the handle bar. The bike's been sitting for a couple of weeks, but the brakes worked OK when I parked it. There is fluid in the reservoir, but the brakes won't even pump up. I'm guessing I have a problem with the master cylinder, but I won't be sure until I tear into the system. It looks like there's a kit available to rebuild the MC. Has anyone done it?
  18. I have to agree that Howie probably has the nicest XX with the most suspension mods I've ever seen. I haven't seen him ride it, but I'll bet he can really skin it.
  19. You can't quite see the curvature of the earth here. We're only about 50 miles from the Ozark Mountains. There are plenty of great roads in NE Oklahoma and NW Arkansas. Don't let a poor old decrepit fat man worry you. You set the pace and I'll do my best to try and keep up. Where is SA?
  20. I have a Penske 8981 shock and Jaws +100mm 1.05kg/mm fork springs. I'm running 10wt Silkolene Race fork oil. I've also been running Pilot Powers for the past few sets of tires. I don't know how "bad" the set-up is, but come on out and run some twisties with me sometime and see for yourself.
  21. Those mods should certainly help your bike's handling. Be sure to set your sag to the proper level. Most sources recommend a sag of about 35mm.
  22. +1. I never install a bearing like that without packing it myself.
