  1. Well, it does run, in traffic, at the upper end of the gauge. It's never boiled over and I've never heard any sounds comming from the reservior. I know that sound as I've heard it in cars before. I check the bike over before each ride and the level is EXACTLY the same before and after a ride. late last fall I changed the coolant, burped the radiator like the manuel says to, topped off the reservior as instructed, and to this day the level has remained exactly where I filled it to. Even in heavy traffic when it's 96 degrees outside it doesn't change as I've checked it at fuel stops. I would have thought that sometime the level would have changed a little one way or another. Maybe I worry too much.
  2. My tank is really clean and white, not the easiest to see but not that hard either. Makes me think the fluid is not making it to and from the tank like it should.
  3. What will cause the coolant level to NEVER change in the overflow reservior even when riding in stop and go traffic here in the deep south in the summer? I've even done some track days in south LA and it never changed. Regardless of where the gauge reads the fluid level never changes. The gauge has never pegged out but will run at the upper end of the normal range in stop and go traffic. It stays at the bottom end of the scale on the hwy. I've checked the line from the radiator to the overflow and it's clear. Any suggestions???? HELP!!!!
  4. Don't know if this has been posted or not but if your running Pilot Powers 2CT or regular Pilot Powers you might want to check them out. Read this; http://www.michelinmedia.com/pressSingle/v...CH2007061546507 And this; http://www.theautochannel.com/news/2007/06/15/052036.html If they say Made in Spain, your good to go.
  5. I got 129 with stock everything but for the K&N and a PCII. I put a full Akropovic system on and remapped the PC and got 142.3. As we all know dyno results will vary greatly from run to run. But I'm happy with my results none the less. The other dyno run with the stock set up was 131.6
  6. Yep. Almost completely meaningless, though. Why is it meaningless? Because unless the dyno runs were done on the same day by the same guy under the same weather conditions, the margin of error on the measurements is large enough that you don't really know how much it increased or didn't. True. But the runs WERE by the same guy on the same dyno under almost the exact same atmosphieric conditions. The only difference was the ambiant tempretures were one degree different. That may make a SLIGHT difference. Even the barometric readings were within .25 of an inch of each other. One degree difference in tempretures and .25 inch in baro pressure will make a ever so slight difference thats a given. But it's close enough for me. Besides, it was just a fun run, NOT a full blown tuning session trying to eek out every last .01 HP. And it only cost $20.00 so what the heck. Things like tire profiles and how worn the tires are, how well the chain is lubed and a whole host of other things effect dyno readings. Even repeated runs on the same day can and usually are different. Too many variables.
  7. I've been doing track days on Pilot Powers and I must say they are the best tires I've ever put on the XX. They stick well and their predictable. The set I have on now have 5 track days and a weeks worth of riding at Deals Gap and the surrounding roads and they still have some life in them. PPs are great tires for the Blackbird.

  9. Power is smooth but there is a slight flat spot. It occures at the exact same place it did with the stock exhaust. Just past the flat spot there is a nice hit that lasts through the rev limiter. Sorry, no 1/4 mile times. There is no 1/4 mile strip around here. But I do have timing slips from a few years ago when it ran 10.29 @ 138mph. I'm doing track days with it now. That is a BLAST!!! I just need some suspention upgrades now. Any suggestions????
  10. Last year I dynoed my XX and got 129. something. It was stock except for a K&N and a PCII. I swapped out the stock exhaust with a full Akropovic system and remapped the PCII. I just dynoed it and it turned 142.something, I don't have the sheet in front of me. Nice gain I think.
  11. I have a set of Motovation frame sliders. These require drilling of the fairing but provide more protection than the crashshroons. Thankfully I haven't used them yet
  12. I have JT sprockets on my Bird and have had zero problems with them.
  13. Check out Friendly Yamaha/Honda. They are located in Baton Rouge LA. Their website is; www.friendlyyamaha.com You NEED to call and talk with Mark Bould for any part for your Honda or any other bike and any other gear you may need. Mark is from the UK so you'll know it's him by his accent. Great guy, great prices. Ask him about his tire prices too. Tell him Terry & Anne sent ya.
  14. James James James, you know I have to you every now and then. Here's some LOVE for ya :icon_hump: :icon_hump: :icon_hump:
  15. I hear you James, You going to put some shroons on your truck too or does it stay upright more than the Bird Actually you both should be at NEXXT that weekend !! I would love to but this is a trip we make twice a year with the same group. One of these days I'm going to make to one of the XX functions, most are so far away from me though

  17. Damn James, sounds like your Bird spends more time on its sides than on it wheels LOL Going to the Gap in Sept, from the 9th to the 15th, you should go too. Oh yeah, Anne got her a bike, a 1994 FZR 1000 EXUP, She rides like the wind LOL
  18. What I asked in this earlier, about 2 posts back. Anyone?
  19. Will changing the CCT quell any of the slight buzz my XX has developed through the bars over the years? It's not much but it is noticeable at some speeds. My XX has 22k miles on it with oil changes EVERY 3K without fail. Just wondering.
  20. Without a doubt, the Phillips Motel in Robbinsville. 18 minutes from the Gap, run by a very nice older couple who cater to us bikers. Low prices too!!! Won't stay anywhere else but there. It's nothing fancy but it is VERY VERY CLEAN!!! Five thumbs up from me.
  21. First off, not to be a smartass, but cement is just a component of concrete. It is the binder in the mixture that actually binds the gravel and sand together. Now that my smartass reply is out of the way, on to my advice. Now to your slab. Even in your climate concrete is not a problem. If it will be exposed to freeze/thaw cycles then you need to order air entrained concrete. The air entrainment admixture HELPS to prevent the freeze/thaw damage. If it will be an interior slab, i.e. heated in the winter, then the air entrainment will not be needed. As far as the fiber reenforcement goes, micro fibers ONLY help prevent surface cracks. They SHOULD NOT be a complete replacement for other, stronger reenforcements like welded wire set up on bricks or the plastic chairs or rebar done the same way. Most welded wire ends up on the bottom of the slab, where it makes a cool looking waffle pattern on the bottom of your slab. You'll see it when the slab cracks to hell and back and you have to tear it out. There is a fiber that is a STRUCTUAL FIBER designed to replace ALL forms of reenforcement. The product is called STRUX Fibers. It will be quite a bit more, here it is an additional $15 per yard but cost comparisons prove it is cheaper than wire or rebar when you factor in the labor to install the wire or rebar. AND STRUX is evenly distributed through out the concrete, not just in one layer like wire or rebar. Hope this helps. By the way, I work for one of the biggest concrete companies in Mississippi and I have 15 years in this business.
  22. Hey James, I'll offer you the same deal I offered Kenny. One 1993 Plymouth Grand Voyager minivan. Only 232,798.4 EASY hwy miles. Only driven to church on sundays and to the bakery on mondays. Well two trips to the Gap 8) . It has a 3.3 litre V6, XM radio, AM/FM/CD, a brand new set of DUBs, rooftop luggage rack  . It is white outside, blue inside. Gets 27 mpg. Will tow a trailer like mine with the Bird on it with no problem. I offered to trade Kenny my excellant minivan PLUS a 20 inch Murray push mower with a 3.5 hp Briggs & Stratton engine, straight up for his Envoy. Can you believe he turned such a GREAT offer down? I think he has his eye on a slightly used Royal roach brown Chrysler. Huh, go figure.
  23. Hey James, I know where you can get a pretty nice but slightly used Royal roach brown  Chrysler as a second ride while the Bird is down  If interested just let me know. Good luck on your repairs.
