  1. How about just doing the air filter and leave the plugs until you put it in to have the shims checked. Platinum plugs last a long time.

Agreed, brilliant bike, does everything so well. I think sales dropped off in the States once the Hybusa came out and had higher top speed, They kept selling over here in oz, we got them until 2007.

That might be a short term fix, flush the fluid.  You can simply open the bleeder and let gravity do the work, as long as you don't let the master run dry you won't have any battles.  Let the fluid run low before you add more so the old stuff gets out of there.  Then keep up on doing it regularly and you should be good.

that's how i do it too, too easy, i even get a syringe and remove most of the old stuff from the master and top up with clean stuff first.

is there an easy way to get the clutch master level so i can bleed it?

  3. my 06 seems to have less torque from new than my 99, i rode an 05 for a day and it had more than both, a friend rode my 06 and and another 06 and said mine was down on power, last service they asked me if i bought it second hand cause it seemed to have a lot more miles on it than shown. I've had it since new and put it down to not running it in hard enough. Bothered me for a long time but at accelerating from 7k and 100mph it's hard to hang on to so i'm happy.

  4. indicated i think since gps wasn't common place back then. Yes definitely no indication, i was trying to make a positive contribution :)

    i don't think it's possible without a turbo.

  5. My old mechanic was talking up regrinding the exhaust cam, he built a blackbird with the exhaust reground, power commander, 4 into 1 and high comp. pistons, said it did power wheelies at 120mp/h.

  6. Are you pulling it back to the same mark each time or further and further back?

Do you still have the red/green wear indicator sticker on your swingarm? i thought it was a joke when i first saw it but it's spot on, that's all the chain should stretch in it's life.

What size chain is it and is the rear sprocket steel?

Better than nothing, but not better than a voltmeter if you know what to look for and pay attention to it.  Having both would be a better option, one to alert and the other to see what's actually happening.  The light allowing 13.2 as ok is ridiculous; yes it charging, but not ok.  They don't publish the voltages for amber, red, or flashing red; but if 13.2 is considered normal charging I'm guessing the red zone will be below operational voltage for most bikes.

did they set it so low so it doesn't go off every time you're idling?
