  1. Well I would be lying if I said I was looking at aftermarket rims for pure weight savings. The size don't interest me at all, and would prefer to keep the stock size rims. I am looking for different rims purely on a different look cause I hate the black rims. Been thinking about powder coating them a different color also. Any weight savings with a aftermarket rim would just be a added bonas I guess. I know adding a 190 to the stock rim will kill the turn in. I myself prefer to keep it with a 180 as I love the curves.
  2. yeah I compared the new and the old plugs. (habit to make sure they are the same) The old ones just had a light resisdue of a light brownish looking normal crude. None of them were blackened or wet of oil. (always a good thing) But the center electrode thingy (whatever the technical term is) was in bad shape. I know they are about the size of a .07 pencil lead to begin with, but looked to have lost about a 1/6th of a inch from the end. I figured them to be in this condition from running to lean. The excess heat causeing premature wear on it. I still wanna see about getting a PCIII and dyno tuning my bike. Been to busy with my wife being pregnant and stuff.
  3. any clearance issues with the wider rim and tire? Got to be a cunt hair difference in the tire and chain guard rubbing
  4. Good write up Rockme, However I wanna know what happened to my plugs. I replaced my plugs at 8881 miles on the clock of my 02' bird. I had irridium plugs from the factory in it. At around 8K miles while tinkering with the tank and stuff off I checked the plugs. There wasn't very much center electrode left. They looked super clean for the mileage, but looked as if the mileage should have been doubled for the wear. I ordered and replaced them with irridium plugs. I only have Leo Vince Slip-ons, and normally run mid grade gas, or premium if I can't find mid. (Way up in the back woods of the mountains can't always get it)
  5. what are the widths of the XX's rims? I was looking at some aftermarket rims and saw some for the XX that were 6.25 inches Didn't seem right to me when I saw the 929's being 5.50 inches might be an error on the site, or something
  6. Looks cool? Black Cherry on almost anything makes me almost cream myself
  7. buy a gallon of yamaha's liquid silver and do mine.. had a guys R6 downstairs for a couple months after he wrecked it. man talk about sexy looking silver paint
  8. I love the looks of the duel hi mounts for the birds. But wouldn't allow me to use my Oxford saddle bags with them  But damn if they don't look good
  9. http://www.enginearmour.net/ carbon fiber or kevlar
  10. round ones that hold air  AV49sp in the front right now, and a AV46st in the rear.. Plan on changing to the AV50sp in the rear on my next set.. I like the quicker turn in. mileage isn't too important.. anything over 4k miles is doing good enough
  11. You mean the Honda shop in Harrisonburg on Rt 11.. Gary Mork is the head mechanic. That one? If so then yes, that guy knows his stuff.. Its worth the 3 hour ride there to have some looked at or fixed  Where in Northern VA are you?
  12. Never spray oil into key holes  go get you some graphite and use that. Oil will let dust and grime stick to it and can cause more problems than its worth.
  13. yeah don't mind me, early in the morning, and not much sleep cause I got my sisters kids since her and her hubby are losers and lost their home  But I am sure about the rest I think.. you will loose power and stealers suck ass
  14. clearance will increase, causing powerloss from the valves not opening fully. I really don't know the answer of just leaving them or why they actually didn't tighten them down to a tighter spec. Buddy of mine had a rear brake leak on his bird, I gave it a quick fix and he took it to the dealer since the bike was only 2 months old. (might need something replaced) They told him they checked everything over and it all looked good. But tightened everything up :???: :?: which is it? everything looks good or something was loose for the need to be tightened? Similar bullshit like checking the valves at the 600 mile service. Have yet to see a stealership mechanic do it. I marked my tank bolts before taking my bike in.. Unless they found a new way to check the valves without taking off the tank mine were never checked.
  15. I hate that sound also, But look at on the bright side.. the more rocks it picks up the more you know your tire is hot and sticky..
  16. going to get some distilled water and flush the system.. Plan on doing the blowjob flush like Warchild has a write up on
  17. What type of fluid do you guys recommend for doing a flush? I don't feel like riding 50 miles to the closet Honda shop  Something simple I can pick up at NAPA or Advance plan on doing a radiator blowjob
  18. nice setup. How often do you have to clean your chain now? I am sure crude and junk will still build up.
  19. I am anal about my bike.. She isn't used very hard till I hit the mountains.. And when I am there she is being flogged.. Tach needle is always pointing from 6k rpms to 10k rpms for miles. Temp goes up as well. I change my oil every 2500 at least.. think once I did 2700 miles. Oil filter new crush washer, Chain cleaned and lubed every 500 miles. Air pressure checked often.. Going to do a radiator flush and change all brake fluid and clutch fluid here soon also
  20. I been running the mobil 1 "red cap" for over 7k miles. I change the oil about every 2500 miles or so
  21. Don't worry I had my bird all of 30 minutes.. Jumped off the slap from the dealership and stopped to grab some dinner. Going 85 mph for 20 minutes tends to get the exhaust kinda warm.. I got got off the bike and mentioned to my friend (also just picked up his new bird) that I liked the dual exhaust look  while doing this and nothing thinking I rested my finger tips on the can  I instantly burned my finger tips, and lost feeling in them for about a week  I would recommend using your tongue on the header after a good hard ride
  22. How often are you going to get off your bike and touch your exhaust?
  23. would someone please ask the hurricane to go away so I can test it out
  24. I have carbon engine covers.. Love the look of carbonfiber.. but I would choose Ti over carbon for exhaust.. Its good for looks but find it silly to be part of a exhaust system..
