Yes, but do you park like a dick, which would justify the zip tie treatment?  I think the people who need it most, will be least prepared.  Another fun one is pepper spray on the door handle.

I actually try to not park like a dick, so it wouldn't be deserved for that.  However, I have likely done some things in traffic that might tick off a Karen enough to do that.  I think you're right about preparedness.

well damn, all this time I been using them to attach shopping carts to peoples door handles. didn't realize they had a real functional use.

I keep a tool roll in my truck, with a good pair of diagonal cutters.  I'd have it off in 30 seconds.

    This.  Especially, that last part.

Pretty sure my demise will be the result of the above statement some day.  My sister was concerned about how much it costs to have a tree trimmed.  I said, I would do it.  What was I thinking?

I keep having fantasies about putting up five cylinder Mercedes diesel in a Toyota 4Runner

I understand the desire for a diesel in an off-road application, but why opt for less power?  Or can you actually get those 5 bangers to make steam like a Cummins?

I've heard the 4 cylinder UPS truck engines can be turbo'd-up nicely.

    Me?

I've been doing a lot of research on building a sleeper-ish daily driver.  A 2000s era F-150 with a Godzilla motor would be fun, I think.  However, I think I've settled on putting an LS in my Nissan Frontier Pro4X.

No, you want the Megazilla, 615HP and 640 TQ, and 500Ft.Lbs. from 2500 RPM.  It has a lower profile intake so it's easier to swap into a car, and with the redesigned pistons it uses it should be boost ready out of the crate.

If that was a little more than you wanted:

Or just buy an old rental, or wrecked 15-passenger van.  Not sure what year they started using the Godzilla V-8.

I think I have a name for my YT channel, "10 Fingers (for now) Productions."

A good friend of mine and I joked about having a YT channel, and naming it "I'll tell you what!" (Say it with a southern drawl).  It would be like Roadkill meets the Red-Green show.

Cutting aluminum on wood tools is easier and safer than cutting exotic hardwoods.  Aluminum doesn't have a grain, and doesn't warp as you cut it.  Totally drama free.

3M Cubitron disks on my RO sander worked well to clean up edges, but it certainly put a hurt on the disk faster than wood.  I don't know if it's wear or clogging, but I suspect that cutting aluminum oxide (self forming on the sheet) with aluminum oxide crystals on the disk is going to cause wear.  I wonder how a carbide disk would do.

The Woodslicer blade on the bandsaw also cut so easily, and predictably, to make the curves and small cutouts for the tail light wiring.

I should not watch your videos.  I just get jealous of the tools you have.  I can probably afford them, but don't make enough stuff to justify the expense.

You could make that same plate with my tools, but it would be like having Windows 95 on your current computer,,,,,,,maybe.

My last attempt at using my small plasma on 1/4 aluminum was not good, because it loses heat so fast.  The edges of this will be somewhat visible so I'd like them to be clean, and also minimize hours of cleaning up edges.  I'm even thinking about edging it on my carbide-equipped jointer, but that's more sketchy, maybe.

Aluminum table saw blades have slightly different tooth shapes, and do run slower.  Yet, the only "don't do this" I could find about using a wood saw was from...the maker of aluminum saws...

So far I can't find anything saying I will die.

Edit to add:  It will be clamped on my Incra miter sled, and fingers far from the cut and the piece.

I have cut a lot of aluminum on my old craftsmen table saw (I think it's older than me), including air-craft T-bar.  Use a carbide-tipped blade, feed very slow, and you'll be fine.  Dang sure wear safety glasses.  Those chips go everywhere.

    ...and condenser?

That's what I was thinking, but I would have replaced the points first thing, just because they are not known for reliability, and are normally pretty cheap.  Haven't bought any in a very long time, so maybe they aren't cheap anymore.

For power I've considered using an old V-6 2 smoke outboard, sorta retarded, but it would sound super cool and be a compact motor with a good power/weight ratio.

    But very poor fuel mileage.

I asked the clerk for a screw extractor.  This is what he brought me.  Multiple reviews online say this set is junk, but I wasn’t shopping online.  I will have words for the clerk when I return it.  They had better options to offer.

The product claims to be vanadium steel, but as easily as it broke, I suspect there’s no substantial steel content.

I figured you had the spiral-type.  Breaking one of those in a soft steel bleed screw, definitely makes the material suspect.  Heat-treat may have not happened.

That being said, what did you expect for that price?

  13. Cool video.  Never thought about switching pin locations in a plug.  Definitely, much cleaner, and less permanent.

Your voice is nothing like I expected.  You sound like you're 25.  The fact that the button location bothered you enough to go through this wiring change says you're much older.  😄

I just spent some time on a bike with a metal heat shield, and it was still insanely hot.  See my post about riding a Harley.  Based on that, I'd recommend considering a carbon or Ti shield that won't transfer heat as much.  But if you're just doing short runs, it may not heat up a metal shield.

The one I bought is a little different, as it has about a 3/8" spacer, so shouldn't get too hot for a boot.  It looks like CF, but isn't.  I actually looked (lazily) for one in CF, but couldn't find it.  I just hope vibration doesn't break the welds too soon.

And no, you can't replace the bulbs on this bike, they are fully integrated.

Thanks, Carlos for posting this.  I need that exhaust shield for the new extension on my drag bike.  It already has a nice black spot from my boot.

Also, although this is completely impossible, in my case the whisky/rum calories seem to do nothing.  Like they pass through me.  You know how carefully I measure things, and I have no weight change in a timeframe when I drink a bit (more than smart), or don't drink at all.  Even though my food calories stay within the same range.  Fucking nuts.

Does that qualify them to be Keto friendly?

Moderation can sometimes be the key to yumminess.

Not a huge veggie guy, but I would eat that, and like it.  Reminds me a little of the steak salad at Twin Peaks.  Yum.  For balance, I wash it down with a fat free beer.

This is for the new Zero.  The push-over test in the video I linked was impressive and sold it.  My balls jump into my stomach every time I watch it.  I will NOT be repeating it.

    LOL.  I understand.

FYI, that black, heavy wheel chock I have actually has a label that says "Trackside", just in case you still wanted to know.  I assume that is the brand.

Looks like you found a good deal on a Baxley, though.

  19. 2 hours ago, SwampNut said:

I will check out Baxley.  Is this something where you just ride into it, get off the bike, and walk away?

Yes.  The bike will wiggle a little, but won't fall over unless hit or kicked fairly hard.  I've never had, or even heard of one falling over while in a Baxley chock, but assume it's possible.

The front wheel on your KTM is smaller, so it might wiggle quite a bit.
