  1. So the brakes were running hot for the first 20-40 miles but it seems to have worked out. The new brakes just really can't compare to the stockers. Amazing.
  2. Well screw it, I just exchanged the Vesrahs' for EBC HH. Lets see how they work out.
  3. I'm definitely going to tear everything apart again to see whether I'm crazy or there is actually a problem... damnit I hate this obsessive compulsive thing...
  4. Ok, maybe all of this is in my mind... I dunno. The bike rides fine and I can move it around like usual but when I get off and feel the front rotors they are too hot to hold on to for more than a split second. Is this maybe normal and I just never paid attention to it? Also I'm just thinking about just buying another set of vesrahs and replacing these. Just don't want 30 dollar pads to ruin 150 dollar rotors... ugh... this sux.
  5. I don't mind so much the dragging feeling but I'm worried about the rotors warping from the heat and pressure. Any risk of that?
  6. Dunno what I did wrong but after installing Vesrah (green) pads on my 99, the front wheel is not completely free to spin. I can feel the brakes dragging lightly and slowing down the wheel when on the front stand. Went for a short ride to see which side is grabbing harder and both rotors are equally hot so they are both dragging. So it would appear the new brakes are dragging enough to cause all sorts of friction. Should I wait for the brakes to "brake in" (pun intended) or do I need to tear everything apart to see what the hell I did wrong? Big ride on Friday and I need to figure this out in time! HELF!
  7. Ok just got back from my first extended ride and gotta say this was money well spent! Where as before the bike did not like having any load on it under 3k rpm but now it's fine from 2k on :-) Smoother, engine seems quieter and I like it! Will definitely have to run it through a dyno though.
  8. Stock exhaust, K&N filter and a bitching sticker! Well ok, no sticker either... just plain old bike... Ok so it feels somehow smoother but when rolling on it feels softer and this is with the "stock" map from dynojet.
  9. So I got the PCII plugged in with a stock map in the bike and it seems to run quieter and smoother, or is it just loosing power? Rollon at 1/4 throttle feels strange but I'm not entirely convinced it's not all in my head. Does anyone else have experience with it?

    chain time

    holy hell... even in km!
  11. I bet it does increase it quite a bit, but honestly you'll just be loosing somewhere else.
  12. For those of you who are nuts and don't think you have enough power, here are some cams to really screw up your engine: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAP...&category=35595

    Fuel Problem?

I don't know about going with this super hard stuff, but run some regular fuel injector cleaner through the system and you may clear it up just like that. Also be sure to always keep a full tank of gas when not running the bike otherwise you're risking a rusty tank.
  14. LOL, tell me about the bandit! after the first valve adjustment where ALL the valves were too tight, I couldn't undersetand where all the tapping was coming from! Had to redo the valves just to be sure it was set right! but my xx does make the starting noise too and I was really worried... so you're saying that if I hold the clutch in and then start it, noises will go away?
  15. I'm not sure where to look it up what is the torque of the shock bolt when putting everything back together?
  16. I'm really curious to see if this will help on an water cooled engine, but the tip for overheating air cooled engines is to turn up the idle rpm. This speeds up oil circulation which should also help with the temperatures.
  17. Sweet! Give us an update after 1000 miles. Let's see if your opinion changes then.
  18. Well it's new to me anyway So how does it work anyway? Does the rear brake get hit harder when you hit the pedal and does the front grab harder when you grab the handle? I know I should just do a search or read some manual, but humor me.
  19. Don't confuse LBS with ABS. The two are different animals and the blackbird is not available with ABS I know what you are saying but I've locked up the rear on my sv and gixxer plenty of times while applying both brakes. The bikes are so light that under heavy breaking the rear just lifts up and the wheel locks up. I dunno guys, don't mean to start up any kind of flame war here, but I really DO like the idea of LBS. Time will show if its a practical idea.
  20. Oh and I firmly believe that one of the qualities of a "better" motorcycle is that its easier to ride. Basically helps you to avoid mistakes, and I think this system is really a step in the right direction.
  21. I don't know about that. I think its an idea that seems to work well for me, for now. And if it is improved upon just as everything else is in the motorcycle business, it will become something very good once it really matures. I really like the fact that I can slow down very quickly without locking up and having excessive nose dive. Maybe I'm not the most experienced rider here and that's why I'm saying this but honestly I can't say that I feel any significant (or at all) disadvantage to this system. But its nice to know that its easily "fixable" if I ever need it.
  22. Aha.. so it's basically just riding style that's a little different, I haven't really spent all that much time on the bike yet to get an intimate feel for it.
  23. Got it, but I still don't understand. Maybe I just don't push my bike hard enough. Dunno.
  24. why? What's the benefit?
  25. I don't think it would have that much of an effect but sounds like you may be running slightly too much air. Try putting in the stock air filter. But that shouldn't account for THAT much air getting through. Were the carburetors removed for this maintenance?
