  1. Thanks for reminder. I forgot about this thread.

As promised pictures of coolant and oil temps on non egr, no def, no VGT turbo, no particle filter, no catalyst. 500 hp 12.7 liter Detroit S60. Btw, the best diesel engine ever made. Truck 2021 Cascadia Glider.

I went to St. Louis area maxed out at 80000 pounds pulling 20 ft box on tri axle chassis. 45000 pounds load. Anything over 37000 in 20 ft container has to go on much longer chassis due to bridge formula law.

Long chassis creates huge gap between tractor and container, consequently aero drag is enormous. Mpg drops like rock.

It probably takes 350 hp just to maintain 70 mph. Engine works hard under those conditions.

Anyway, coolant AND oil temps were  around 170 F deg. So oil temps are about 50-60 deg lower vs. 2022 EPA compliant Mack 13 liter engine or basically Volvo D13 with different paint job.

Outside of racetrack you would never ever see those sustained well over 200F degrees oil temperatures on water cooled motorcycles.

And, what was the claim by our expert? Oil temps are always much higher vs. coolant, and Harley is stupid to recommend diesel oil for their hot running air cooled mills?

    False on both claims.

Coolant left of tach top, oil gauge right below.

  2. Congrats. Well done, and keep going. Regular exercise is a lifestyle.

The thing about going to gym,,,.,,,the most difficult part is decision making process. Do I really wanna go? I don't feel like doing anything right now, etc.

Once I get there I always find energy to do my usual work out.

And once I'm done I feel great. Endorphins. Can't beat that. Getting high without having to deal with your friendly neighborhood drug dealer.

95% of people leaving gym have smile on their faces.

  3. I don't eat breakfast. Nothing other than cappuccino in first 2-3 hrs after getting up. Not by design, I just don't feel like eating in the morning, and forget heavy foods.

When I eventually eat something it is dairy, like yogurt and farmer cheese with berries. And flakes with fake milk. I just follow my natural eating clock. I don't believe one eating schedule fits all.

My mother is the same. Nothing in the morning. When I visit her nobody eats anything in the morning. 😆 Just coffee. Lol. She is 85 years old, and healthy person.

I don't eat traditional breakfast unless I travel or go skiing for entire day. You burn lottsa energy on the mountain, heavy workout and, typically, cold temps.

On the other hand my father would always eat breakfast first thing in the morning. Eggs, meat, butter, etc. Generally his diet was not what we now considered healthy, but no processed foods. He liked fatty meats, etc. It has most likely contributed to his death- heart failure. He was 82 when he died. Not bad for his generation.

At one point I tried to force myself to eat proper breakfast early in the morning. It did not work. I would go hungry 2-3 hrs later, and start my routine with yogurt, etc. So that was like one additional meal per day on the top of what I would usually eat. Started to gain weight of course.

  4. In piggy back world pc5 is as good as it gets. Back in pre throttle by wire, traction control, wheelie control, slide control, adoptive engine braking, and whatever rider aids I've missed to mention, it was all what was needed to tune engine even after substantial changes.

You can download map from Dynojet official side, those 390 engines can't be that different between models. Maybe one of maps will work well, or, if really anal, just buy Auto Tune set up for Power Commander 5.

You can tune to desired AFR in fuel tables.

    It will be fun.

I think, although not sure, Auto Tune from Dynojet, is not model (bike) specific, so you could easily sell on ebay once the map is good, and bike runs the way you want.

You might have to weld on the bung in front header for wideband oxygen sensor.

You'll also need oxygen sensor eliminator.

Erythritol is a natural near-zero calorie sweetener that works well in most anything with some liquid.  This is very low liquid, so I'd probably add a little water first, enough to melt but not dissolve it, and then mix in.  Erythritol is exothermic so some people don't like the mouth-cooling effect it has when eaten dry.

Well, you might wanna look into the following link. Of course, there could be other factors. Like other eating habits, lifestyle, etc. of people effected.

"A sugar replacement called erythritol – used to add bulk or sweeten stevia, monkfruit and keto reduced-sugar products – has been linked to blood clotting, stroke, heart attack and death, according to a new study.

“The degree of risk was not modest,” said lead study author Dr. Stanley Hazen, director of the Center for Cardiovascular Diagnostics and Prevention at the Cleveland Clinic Lerner Research Institute."

My pressure spikes MASSIVELY at the doctor's office.  Always has.  Byproduct of a childhood doctor known as "Shoot'em up" where no matter what you were getting a shot, and you know as a kid you did NOT want to get a shot.  I could care less now in my conscious mind but my subconscious mind tells my body to go into flight mode.  131/75 at home, last time it was 30 points higher on the top AND bottom at the doctor.

    Lol. So true. Usually.

My last DOT exam I had to wait two hrs in line. It was late afternoon. By the time it was my turn I was in "gotta the a nap immediately" mode and was literally falling on my face.

But what does it taste like?

No taste as is. I throw frozen berries in it. Then it tastes awesome, and the only carbs are from fruit. No added corn based crap sugar.

Generally speaking if it tastes good it is not good for you.

    Sad.

  8. And all those piggy back controllers,,,,,almost everything now is throttle by wire, there is absolutely nothing they can do about things like throttle rate opening. There is very limited amount they can do on more and more sophisticated ECUs. It is almost like ECU fights back piggy back, and even fights back reprogramming.

There was interesting article about this particular subject in Roadracing World couple months ago by Army of Darkness WERA racing team boss Sam Fleming. Endurance racing.

Apparently their reflashed R1 ECU would still not fully opened throttles, are open them slower, even though reprogramming was supposed to take care of that. On dyno reflash R1 made same power as bike equipped with Yamaha race kit ECU/ wire harness, except on the track kitted bike had higher trap speeds by 3-4 mph. Lol.

You just wanna bang your head against the wall when dealing with those kind of issues. They run stock reflashed ECU becouse they could adjust better engine braking and traction control.

And starting with 2022 model ECU is not flashable.

I had Bazzaz fuel controller on VFR, I thought it run OK. And then I accidentally got flashed ECU by Guhl. Fuck Me, Way, way more responsive engine. Sadly, he stopped doing reflash courtesy of EPA hitting so many similar businesses with astronomical fines.

I feel lucky I had a chance to live in Golden Era of Motorcycles powered by ICE.

It is all castrated throttle by wire now. With idiot proof tunning they don't feel the same.

So you're going to further prove what I said about Diesel engine oil running cool after stupidly arguing that they run "hot as fuck" just like a Harley...perfect.  While you're waiting for those unnecessary photo opportunities, look up Harley specs on piston to cylinder clearance so you can see how wrong you were about that "generous piston to cylinder clearance" statement as well.

Yep, Air-cooled big bore engines run tight clearances. Tighter vs. water-cooled smaller bore engines. You are an idiot.

Second, even 5 years old knows oil temperature on EGR diesel engines, turbocharged of course, is high. Higher then before in era on no EGR and VGT turbos.

Hint- for egr to work back pressure on hot side has to be higher vs. post intercooler intake part. Otherwise it would flow wrong way. On the top of that compared to pre emission diesels they now have to run higher boost levels to make equal power. The excess air cuts down on soot, etc.

Point is heat loads on turbo and exhaust manifold are now much higher vs. before. Turbos are cooled by oil, etc,,,

Just do basic internet search, everyone complains about high oil temp on modern diesels

Anyway, your OP post was not that horrible because you simply were not aware of "uniqueness" of HD engine.

And then you doubled down. 😂

You're just digging a deeper hole stupid.  Of course the oil temp is higher than coolant temp, if it wasn't the engine would be fucked.  That doesn't change the fact that Diesel engine oil typically runs cooler than gas engine oil.

Utter Latino Bull Shit. Plowing more into a fucking nonsense, because, you know, you never admit of being clueless.

    What else is new.

On older non egr diesel engines, or pre 2002, temps were about even. I drive another truck, Freightliner Cascadia glider with pre emission non Egr Detroit S60. Part of Jake Brake fell off, and damaged camshaft. In the shop now.

So, no pictures for now, but I should get her back in couple of weeks.

I'll post pictures, it will make you look even more stupid, if that could even be possible.
