2001 Blackbird, set for touring, with Hepco-Becker top opening bags, solo Corbin seat (stock seat also), Spiegler LSL bar risers and bars, MRA Vario Screen, 1" lowered pegs, plug for Gerbing heated clothing and Battery Tender, NEW Penske shock, and Throttlemeister bar ends. Michelin Pilot III's, O-ring chain, and cam chain tensioner were new 1 1/2 years ago. Beautiful Canadian Red, purchased in Vancouver, B.C., showing 60030 kilometers (37300 miles). Just purchased '01 red Bird that looked great until I discovered the panel repair, missing lugs, and general fubar stuff hidden under the pretty red paint. Need nose piece, and would like the lowers- OEM , used- would be great; I'm open to any offering on this subject. Scott

I have a new in box Corbin carbon black seat that I didn't get a chance to install (got rearended on fwy in stopped traffic). It has a Ninja red accent bead, and all leather (smooth ) sides. I would like $400.00 for it. I may yet have another BB in my future, so keeping it is not a problem. I was given a sample set of Wera screwdrivers, and was pretty blown away by the quality. Some had laser etched tips for grip, and some had diamond impregnated tips. Talk about secure. They also had way more configurations, tip types and grips, than I had ever seen. www.wera.de is the site, I think. I found them at an off the wall Tool Town or such like, and now I grab them first.

I was just told that California legal Birds were given extra exhaust charcoal gear, and were identified by an "L" in the model or vin. Is this true? I have also been told that some Birds have a restrictor chip limiting them to 130+ MPH. I've never gone 130 on the Bird I had, but find it hard to believe that I wouldn't have heard of a mod- new chip- to bypass this. More BS or what??? I know that you guys have The Knowledge, and I need to be educated. Thanks, Scott

Selling my Triumph Tiger 1050. It's a 2007, with 9895 miles (today) which I bought in May to replace my wrecked Blackbird. The Triumph was ready for a long ride when I bought it, and is even more ready now. I've added Hepco and Becker top opening boxes and rear rack, a 6" higher Calsci windscreen, and Michelin Pilot 3s. The bike came to me with mirror extenders, carbon fiber trim, factory heated grips, plug ins for Gerbing clothes and battery tender. It's got an automatic chain oiler, Triumph soft seat, Throttlemeister cruise, and ASV adjustable levers. It's set up for a short rider (me). I've often seen "ready to ride" in the ads, and this is READY TO RIDE. I changed the oil (full syn.) and filter last week, washed and waxed it, and polished the screen. This is, by the way, the most comfortable bike I have ridden. I'm advertising here because I haven't satisfied my Blackbird Jones. My '03 Bird was totaled after two weeks of riding, and I want another. I'm willing to take part trade for a FI model. I'm asking $7800 for the Triumph. Bags and rack are $1500 alone. I'm sore(and mad) and have a couple cracked ribs. The insurance co. totaled the bike, and Coparts quoted $800 for the wreck. I sold it to Rob at Hinshaw's for the same, as he has helped me out a lot. The rear wheel was broken from impact, and I was pushed into the car ahead hard enough to dent it's rear bumper and panel. I'm sure the engine was fine, but I wasn't willing to work on making the bike right. The Insurance money covered an '07 Triumph Tiger, 5400 miles, bags, risers, and new Michelin Pilot Road 3's for the rain. No comparison to the Honda, but it's ready to go Now. I'll probably be sorry to have gone this way, but I tend to keep a bike just a couple years. Maybe time for a road rocket then. Thanks for asking. Scott

Spiegler doesn't provide extended throttle cables with their kit. They were $95 from Motion Pro. The Spiegler brake and clutch lines were also not long enough to reach with the Renthal bars in place. I used the Spiegler sent ends, plus generic hose to make up what I eventually put on the bike, and left them on the wreck. I have the LSL bars, and I'm sure you could buy brake and clutch lines from the kit by themselves. Leave out the Renthals and the cables, and make me an offer on just the fork clamps and the LSL bars. Scott 253-381-5800

I've seen lots of interest in the two days this has been posted, but no replys; is everyone done building, or is the price too high? Make an offer, I won't be offended. Even if I was, I'm too sore from the accident to respond.

The seat was mounted for one week, and two rides. Cost was $489 plus freight from Corbin. Seat is ALL leather, not just the seat area. The seat area is carbon fiber texture, with the remainder smooth. The piping is Ninja red. It seemed to match the Honda logo red. I am crushed that I won't be the one breaking in this seat, but the new owner will have that luxury, without having to pay full price from Corbin. Asking $400 plus freight from 98332, and it will come in the original Corbin box and packing. You can have the original invoice too. Might help down the road if you need repairs.

Shim is in; your directions were spot on. 4" longer throttle cables, clutch and brake lines to go with the bar risers. And, as I thought, now waiting on the painter.

Outstanding response and pictures guys! I should be able to build those bottom brackets easily enough. Unless those in the picture are looking for a good home??? No brownies for you though. It's been thirty years since I could remember what went in them. Scott

I found a set of Corbin bags for my '03 that had been on a totaled Bird in Fla. The bags are in good shape, but without mounting hardware, except two of the top mounting bolts. I can copy the bolts for the other top mounts, but the bottom mount needs, I think, a right angle bracket with a twist. This attaches to the muffler mtg. bracket. A picture or drawing of this part would really help. Corbin says they don't keep obsolete product info. Anyone got ideas?

Welcome.... Here's my suggestion. "Fix Them" Repairing the body panels is not all that hard (if your mechanically and artistically inclined), especially if they are just cracked. Heck,... sometimes you don't even need to repaint if it done correctly. ... Why don't you shoot me some pictures of your fairing, and I'll tell you if it can be done or not. Heck I might even offer to do it for you.... for a small fee. I'm going to look at a rt. lower today (Sunday), and I will take pictures tonight. The previous owner did a patch job with something that never really hardened, and will need an aggressive solvent to remove; probably take decals with it. The nose cowl is cracked, but not repaired. That may be a candidate for repair. I would welcome advice as to how and what to use (glass cloth and epoxy?) to keep the cracks from reforming in use.

I just purchased my first Blackbird, '03 with 1745 miles and a cracked rt. lower fairing and cracked nose cowl. Has anyone had good experience with aftermarket plastics, and if so, what company. I've seen good looking ads on Ebay from Delkevic in Colorado, and another supplier in Poland. They use high resolution pictures, and the product isn't all gaudy colors, but I don't have the foggiest idea as to what I should ask to get a quality product that would fit. My choice would be to find good used OEM parts that just need filler and paint, but I don't want to miss any riding weather by waiting. Do the plastics interchange from all years? Do any of you have a line on OEM parts I could buy?-Staring at the bike in a cold garage
