  1. So you're selling the blue one to buy a red one? Why not just spring $1800 to $2000 and buy the red plastics off eBay? They sell them like that all the time off donor engine bikes they used for T-Rexes.
  2. Yeah Dave...what are you getting to replace it?
  3. The only drilled cans I've heard sounded like ass. You'd be better off leaving it alone or getting some aftermarkets...
  4. You're supposed to change those things? Man...50+ oil changes, across 4 or 5 bikes, totalling over 100K miles and I've never changed the crush washer, or had one leak on me. Ever.
  5. Could I attach a zip file and PM that to someone? Or is it only pictures?
  6. Damn. I missed that one. Coulda used that front stand. Don't do anything drastic. I mostly wanted the spool adapters, and thought the rest might be useful, too. I'll let you have them if you want 'em. Did you get them? If so, I'll definitely buy the front stand from you.
  7. Damn. I missed that one. Coulda used that front stand.
  8. Ow...talk about spendy. I only paid $39 for my rear sprocket. and $19 for my countershaft. I'll save that loot to pay for something else.
  9. LOL! Do they last that much longer than the aluminum ones? The steel sprocket I got is functional, but kinda stock looking. Nothing blingy. I was looking at a Vortex Gold anodized aluminum sprocket, or a tri-color (can't remember where I saw that one). Something more pizzazy, ya know?
  10. AFAM Steel Sprockets or Vortex Aluminum sprockets? Which is better?
  11. Dibs on the backrest...PM sent for further info.
  12. LOL! Don't sigh at me! I have the manual, but couldn't find the function to get the ECU codes with a search. Sometimes it IS hard to find shit in here with half a million posts. We'll try that and see what we get.
  13. Ok...seeing as though he's on a budget, how can I eliminate any one of these theories without necessarily buying parts? How much is a fuel pressure regulator? Still waiting on Joe to tell me how to get the ECU codes for the FI issue. This all sounds promising though...hopefully it's one of these things mentioned so far.
  14. He rode up to Chicago and we did the wiring harness loom thing last year. It's sealed tight and good to go. I don't think the gauges are jumping around, but I will call him and ask him about that one. In the mean time how do we get the codes off the ECU for the FI light?
  15. Ok, so my buddy Riceburner (Derick) is having a fueling issue with his 99 XX. He'll start it and it will run rough, as though it's missing, and if he attempts to give it a bit of gas, it stumbles. Sometimes it will "correct" itself and run strong and hard. He's also had this happen while riding, about 60 mph, revs up around 5K, and suddenly it's stumbling like it's running out of gas or missing on a cylinder. Thinking it might be the Power Commander, he removed that from the system and it's still doing it. His FI light is also on while it's doing this. The bike is stock except for a K&N filter and Micron slip ons. I thought it might be plugs, as he is unsure (bought used) as to whether the original plugs are still in there. He has about 45K on the ODO. He plans on putting in a stock air filter and replacing or checking the plugs first, but do you guys have any other ideas what it could possibly be?
  16. I apologize. The 190s are stock rear size for my ZX-14, but the 180/55/17s are a few bucks cheaper and the stock size for the XX. I can find 180/55/ZR17 Pilot Powers on the internet for $135 to $140 for a rear.
  17. Dion, why so low in the rear? Doesn't that cause the tire to deform slightly at the sidewalls without enough pressure in it?
  18. I dunno about down where you are, but the shops by me have a few different prices. Roll up and have them remove the wheels from the bike and mount the tires, it'll cost you $75 per tire if you didn't buy the tires there or $50 per tire if you did buy the tires there. Bring the wheels in off the bike and it'll cost you $35 per tire if you didn't buy the tires from them, or $24 per tire if you did. I'd imagine that $60 quote is for bringing the bike and the tires and having them remove the wheels and mount tires you didn't buy from them. And where in the hell are you paying $144 front and $175 rear for Pilot Powers? $319?? Sheesh. I get a pair of Pilot Powers (120/70/ZR17 front 190/50/ZR17 rear) for $230 online SHIPPED, and that's with a late '06 or early '07 manufacturers date, not some 3 year old leftover, and the 180/55/ZR17s cost about $5 to $8 bucks less than the 190s.
  19. You forgot camera...so's you can take lots of pics... Sounds like the major stuff is done, at least the things I'd worry about. If you're worried about the reg/rec and stator, carry spares, they are small enough not to take up too much luggage room, and make sure you have the tools necessary to change them out. Other than that, sounds like you're good to go. Enjoy!
  20. Not THOSE case... :icon_nono: The OTHER cases!!! Whoo hoo! Yeah! Shake 'em momma! On a separate note, I recently saw some red chrome rims on a newer red VFR. They were HOT. I wonder what black chrome rims would look like. :icon_think: They were basically powder coat over chrome and they looked SEXY.
  21. If you're saying that the bolt is in place, but stripped, then just use a dremel to square it off and use some vice grips to turn it until you get the replacement bolt in. I don't know if a helicoil will work in that particular application. I don't think the bolts are supposed to be adjustable when using a helicoil.
  22. Hey this is a XX board. Take that Goldwing shit up outta here! Sorry...got carried away there... Yeah Dave, I'd run the regular dino through at least the break in oil changes (500/600/1000/2000) and on that 3000 mile change, if you haven't sold it for something else by then, go with the semi-synth or full synth if you want. Dunno how true it is, but I've read (don't believe everything you read on the internet) that the synth is TOO good at wear prevention and doesn't allow the minor wear necessary for everything to mate up properly in a reasonably quick time frame, and that it will take substantially longer for the engine to break in properly if you go to synth too soon. Now, I'm not an oil pro, that's just what I read.
  23. It might SOUND bad...but it LOOKS sweet as hell...
  24. LOL! Not to mention the site probably has spyware and crap on it. I wouldn't visit there if he paid me. Admins will get around to deleting this sooner or later.
