REXX Posted February 1, 2004 Posted February 1, 2004 I know this should be in the garage but there are no users browsing that forum. I'm installing a K&N and have removed the o-ring like stated in directions but still the filter cover doesn't want to sit flush..is this normal? Quote
REXX Posted February 1, 2004 Author Posted February 1, 2004 Never mind...was able to screw it down flush  . I guess the fit isn't as good as factory filter. Quote
Guest Posted February 2, 2004 Posted February 2, 2004 It's normal Rex.... I had to yell at mine, leave the room several times, and sneak up on it to make it fit. Bathtub caulk = no. Quote
bhanxx Posted February 2, 2004 Posted February 2, 2004 Yep, screwy fit, swore *$#@!))$*# at it, a little voodoo and a rain dance. Finally it went in reasonably decent, but 4 the hell of me i can't remember what i did. Way better fit than the K&N on the old CBR1000F, that one took some serious cussing'n'pushing. K&Ns i've put in cars have had oem fit. Quote
birdie_xx Posted February 2, 2004 Posted February 2, 2004 Way better fit than the K&N on the old CBR1000F, that one took some serious cussing'n'pushing. Had no problems with the fit of neither one of the filters, CBR1000 and the XX.... :???: Cheers, Quote
bhanxx Posted February 2, 2004 Posted February 2, 2004  Probably it's me then  U learn more when u do it the hard way :banghead: Quote
Guest Posted February 2, 2004 Posted February 2, 2004  Probably it's me then  U learn more when u do it the hard way :banghead: Me too. Did you guys know it goes in easier after you take it out of the box? Quote
bhanxx Posted February 2, 2004 Posted February 2, 2004  I knew that, I ain't that galactically stupid. Quote
kg4fku Posted February 2, 2004 Posted February 2, 2004 What? you have to take it out of the box? Next thing you gonna tell me is I shouldn't have oiled the box. I clean it every two months and amazingly its not very dirty. Quote
Northman Posted February 3, 2004 Posted February 3, 2004 BTW, leaving the plastic on the filter helps it stay clean longer..... Quote
bhanxx Posted February 3, 2004 Posted February 3, 2004 BTW, leaving the plastic on the filter helps it stay clean longer..... No shit, damnit, and i threw the box and plastic away. Can I use large zip-lock bag as a substitute? That would give ez access when u do have to clean it! And it's reusable too! Quote
kg4fku Posted February 3, 2004 Posted February 3, 2004 BTW, leaving the plastic on the filter helps it stay clean longer..... Damn that is a good idea. I'll have to try that next time. Quote
