twodealdrive Posted June 8, 2006 Posted June 8, 2006 I've been riding in the rain a lot lately and decided to give the Bird some much needed TLC. I removed the L/R cowls and noticed a build-up of grime and dirt clogging the fins on the rad. About a half inch wide on both sides where the cowls send airflow to the rad. I was surprised, I'd never seen that before, but I've only had the XX for a year. I had noticed on hot days, 90F plus, that the temp gauge was going higher than normal and was going to change the coolant. So I grabbed the Purple Power grease/grime cleaner, sprayed it on and used an old tooth brush to loosen it up, then sprayed the stuff off with the hose. Just an FYI, check you radiator and I also got the oil cooler element while I was in there too. There were quite a few dead bugs, moths, etc on that 'cuz it get a more direct shot of airlow. Quote
