XXTi Posted June 22, 2005 Posted June 22, 2005 Either you are not putting your jumper in the right place ( the two connector plug near the ECU) or you have a wiring problem somewhere. Putting the jumper wire in the connector should not blow a fuse. Quote
cbrxxquad Posted June 22, 2005 Posted June 22, 2005 probably the wire loom diagonistic plugs that need to be cleaned Quote
silvertippr2001 Posted June 22, 2005 Author Posted June 22, 2005 the.plug.looks.clean I'll.go.with.wiring.problem.because.I'm.experimenting.other.problems.with.the.bike.to since.now.I.haven't.found.anything.wrong.with.the.wiring but.I.now.it.has.to.be.one I'll.kip.looking Thanks Quote
cbrxxquad Posted June 22, 2005 Posted June 22, 2005 different plug the ones i am talking about are wraped up in tape and one is located by the battery in the wire loom the other is up by the engine under the tank you have to cut the tape to get to them and they are green turminators and used to diag. the wires at the factory. cause problems all the time with corresion. cut the wire tape away at the bulging place in the wiring and take the cover off and wire brush and clean. may be too much if you are not too mechanical. will have to remove a lot of the body work and will need to seal back up do a search for terminal connector in the garage http://www.cbr1100xxforums.org/forum/viewt...=asc&highlight= thanks juxxtin Quote
XXTi Posted June 23, 2005 Posted June 23, 2005 You know, I've heard a lot about corrosion on these connectors, but I don't know anyone in the US who has suffered from it. I took mine apart and found them to be clean as a whistle. The Euro. guys have had problems, but has anyone in the US found this area to be a problem? Quote
lexxus Posted July 1, 2005 Posted July 1, 2005 99 Bird, I had the problem last summer paid the dealer to find out what was wrong, paid a buck 55 they couldnot fix problem so i heard about the loom problem talked to the dealer about it they had no clue, so i took the loom apart myself on there parking lot after i paid for it, they were not happy with this but they wouldnot refund my money so i cleaned the loom right there, while making plenty of noise for paying for a repiar that didnot fix my bird.No problem since.
