Obby Posted November 7, 2004 Posted November 7, 2004 How do you change the rear brakes? I removed the bolt in the front of the calliper. What else needs to come off? -Obby Quote
rickrad Posted November 7, 2004 Posted November 7, 2004 The only thing you need to remove is the #18. Pads should slide right out after you take that out. Quote
Pete in PA Posted November 8, 2004 Posted November 8, 2004 Yeah, and on that note all you guys with #16, throw it away, and replace with #22. It's a rubber cap. I'm glad I did. Quote
Obby Posted November 8, 2004 Author Posted November 8, 2004 I'll give a look see for the one. I think I removed #13. Didn't see #18. Maybe it's hidden by a rubber plug or something. My Micron exhausts are right in the way. Makes it hard to see anything. Thanks! Quote

Northman Posted November 9, 2004 Posted November 9, 2004 Depends on which year your bike is. The newer ('01-up) bikes use a rubber plug, while the '00-older use a threaded plug that has uses a slotted screwdriver for removal. Quote
Blaine Posted November 11, 2004 Posted November 11, 2004 Also you 'll need to push on the calipers to move the pistons back in, to give you space to remove the old brake pads and install the new one. It takes a bit of extended pressure to move the brake fluid back up to the reservoir. Quote
