  1. Hoping for some help locating a service manual for a 2002 bird…..
  2. They sent me a unit for a CBR1000. They claim to not have a plug and play for my xx. I'll see if it will install or not tomorrow. Ive had a couple close calls while stopped at lights. I figure it can't hurt and it might grab the attention of a distracted driver.
  3. I received a Gearbrake unit as a gift. The company has not produced one for the blackbird but has produced them for the CBR1000. The unit they sent was for a 2003 CBR1000. The question is do the 2003 CBR1000 and the 2002 CBR1200xx share the identical brake light wiring harness? If so then the unit provided should plug and play. If not I'll have to return this unit, along with pictures of the existing wiring, so that a model specific unit can be produced. Any help in this matter will be greatly appreciated.
  4. Anyone here install a dash mounted voltmeter? Any recommendations?
  5. Background - 2014 Americade. Bike was running fine and then electrical failed. Tripmeter reset to 0, time reset. inspected battery and found some corrosion. Got restarted and went to the Yuasa tent where they inspected and replaced the existing battery with a new Yuasa. No issues there after. Full disclosure here, I know very little about electrical systems. Stored the bike for the winter and had battery on tender. This year while parking on a side street at americade I suffered a nearly identical failure. The rider of the bike next to me had a device called Micro-Start wnd gave me a jump. I rode back to Lodge (20 miles) and had no trouble restarting thereafter. Now - upon thinking of the events and what they had in common it came to mind that both failures occured after a period of very slow travel in traffic. Very low RPM and presumably not much in the way of battery charging going on. That coupled with a higher coolant temp which turned the fan on which presented additional demand on the battery. So, the question is have any of you had a similar situation occur? If so how did you resolve it? Thanks in advance for any help. Also, I am considering installing a set of Michelin Road Pilot 4's. Any feedback?
  6. Yes, its a 2002 and hopefully it's just dirty. I'll try your suggestion and let you know what I find. Thanks.
  7. Anyone have issues with the High Beam Rocker Switch failing? Mine works sometimes and other times not. In some cases there is a delay between the time the rocker is pressed and the high beam comes on. The battery was new last summer. Its a Yuasa.
  8. I've used products from this company http://www.kanolabs.com/ many times with success. Click on the link for Penetraing - Lubricating Oils. By the way, can you post the part number of just the plastic shell? I need one for my 2002. Thanks. Good luck......
  9. Got the first post, went to Autozone, bought the party, and got the filter right off. Thanks alot. Dealers.....bah, we don't need no stinking dealers!
  10. The mechanic at my 600 mile oil change must have put the filter on with an impact wrench. I cannot get the filter off. I saw a reference to a flat wrench, available from Honda for filter removal. Now I cannot seem to find it. The cap end wrench the dealer just sold me won't fit between the filer and the header. Two questions..... What is the part number for that flat wrench and can I skip a filter change?
