  1. Well, yesterday I designed this stuff... ...and the workshop that realized the braking plates is available to build it. Do you thing it could be better to foresee it adjustable?
  2. I LOVE YOU !!! :icon_dance: :icon_lol:
  3. Does anyone of You know something similar? I would like to install it on my forks but it seems that ther's not anything suitable for Bird, in Europe. I could create one from an Ergal block, but if there's something in American market I should save time and (maybe) money...
  4. You're right, but seems that a bolt-on solution does not still exist . The CBR600F forks are bolt-on regarding steel plates and wheel axle; the problem is about disks diameter, else it should be a fantastic solution
  5. Here I am with my modification at braking system. It is all started by a present received by a friend of mine... Of course, it is impossible to install this kind of calipers onto stock forks, so I decided to replace'em with a couple of CBR600F unit (opportunely revised...) Work in porgress... original braking system, at its right place (out of the bike ) Replaced also the pump with the one installed onto my old CBR929... And the final result is... General view Front fender comes from an Aprilia RS125; the right ones is coming by express courier (praying for a soon expedition :icon_pray: ) and this is the view of cockpit; over the seat I cannot see the first 3000 RPM of the clock, but this is not a problem And... how does it work? :icon_think: Fine, really fine: the braking power is a load more than the original and the feeling at lever is extraordinary; simply skimming over the lever I can get an immediate and strong response, maybe TOO MUCH strong, if I exaggerate :icon_think: And finally, I can exclude the rear brake (I've been running for ten years in circuit: it is difficult for me think to use the rear one) and have all the control in my right hand ! Yes, I am satisfied
  6. Oh My God !!! :icon_duh: :icon_nono: Really inconceivable; buy an X11, in this case No no no, I'm a "2 pieces" bar lover (also for naked bikes).
  7. Theoretically it is, but the increasing percentage is really scarce; the PAIR system subctratcs a little bit of fresh air from the airbox (and so, from the engine breathing stock). Without PAIR, this (little, of course) air amount is available for breathing, and so, for performance. Is it? You know, the contribution is poor, but with cents you can build a treasure
  8. I'm not involved in races, so my PAIR valves cover plates are in progress (by a AVIONAL 2024 plate) Another nice news coming soon
  9. Thank you very much, R !! Next Monday I'll run on Magione circuit (central Italy). I will put my report nex day
  10. R1000, I'm going to test my Bird on track too (next Monday). Could you please give me any kind of suggestion? Tyres pressure, brake pads... boh... eveything that coudl be useful. Thanks a lot
  11. I found out that screen, but PowerBronze answerd me telling that they DO NOT produce windscreen for Bird. Regarding ultraviolet threat... thanks for your advice !! It's a very useful suggestion !! BTW, the problem still exist: I want a original shape windscreen. I don't bear with my double-bobble anymore
  12. So cool !!! But... they seem to have only a double-bobble windscreen type... Am I being wrong?
  13. Hi !! I'm trying to get an iridium screen for my '00 XX; at now I have a double bobble unit on it, but I don't like it so much (the original one were lost by the previous owner); I'm looking for a stock shape/size unit, but it seeems that there's not anything similar, here in Italy (except the original Honda spare part, obviously)... (XX isn't a such success, in my place... ). Do any of you know something such similar in USA? I tought at PowerBronze, but they told me that nothing is foreseen for Blackbird... Thank you all (please apologize for my english... )
  14. This thursday (july the 19th) I'm gonna try my XX on Mugello circuit I'm fitting D208RR. Does someone of you know the correct pressure? The temperature will be high (33-35°C = 95°F) Thanx
  15. On my XX... 2.5bar (36.2psi) front and 2.7bar (39psi) on rear. I fit Dunlop D208RR (great tires )
  16. 1000 km in this weekend, spent between mountain streets (the firsts knee-sliding of 2007, UAU !!... ) on saturday and touristic journey (at about 160 kmph) of 700 km on sunday. No probs; everything's good also with cheap and normal CR9EH9's
  17. You don't need to remove fairing, but "only" tank and airbox. It's more simple that you can imagine... Little suggest: instead of NGK CR9EHVX-9 (platinum elements) it's possible to use NGK CR9EH-9; they costs (in Italy) about 9 euro each and the difference is negligible. I've been using'em on my '01 Fireblade for three years, using it only on circuit (I attended also three races) without encountering any problem.
  18. I've paid 'em 500 euros (it's about 450 USD). The link is www.alth.it It's in italian, but if you find something interesting I could translate it for you
  19. GREAT !!! Thanks a lot !!
  20. For an aesthetic reason, first of all: I want maintain as more as possible the original layout. This is the reason why I could prefer use a CBR600 fork instead of RC51 (or CBR929...): I will maintain original steering plates, handlebars, and general "look". The second reason: money. With at maximum of 500 euros (about 450 USD) I could have forks and calipers. Choosing a different configuration I could be obliged to "twist" (I don't know if the term is right... sorry...) all the steering system: steering pivot, plates, handelbars... and also the total look could be noticeably changed. Too much for the "discreet look" I want for my Bird... I don't think that CBR600 fork are undersized for this service: the diameter is the same and also pivot and fittings have the same size. Fortunately in Italy (Modena, the city of Ferrari, and close to my place ) we have the winner of Honda Technician Contest, Claudio Franchini. I know him, unfortunately for him , and he knows my "maniacal attitudes" in this kind of transformations. I will ask him...
  21. Uh? Do 98's and '00 mount different wheels?
  22. My idea is to install CBR 600 front fork, complete of brake caliper. The 600's forks are perfectly adaptable on Bird steering plates: fork diameter is the same (43mm) and also the total lengthen is comparable (in order to be alble to install original handelbars). A bolt-on modification... I'm still not sure about the diameter of wheel pivot, but I'm QUITE sure that they are identical for diameter feature Of course I will replace original oil (and spring) with new units more suitable for Bird weight. It remains only to build suitable wheel shims and an adaptator to reposition calipers (600 has 296mm disks, Bird 310mm), but it's the smaller problem; I can realize them easily, either in Ergal and steel. I'm just studying the solution right now using Autocad, in order to create an exact 3D model for plates and shims In this way I will... 1) Replace the front fork with a new more performant (completely adjustable) unit 2) Replace original caliper (floating, 3 pots) with the more powerful unit of 600 (fixed, 4 pots) 3) Eliminate Dual-CBS, saving weight and earning a more familiar (for me) behaviour in braking What do you thing about my idea?
  23. Yes, of course I could. But it's not sufficient for the modification that I want to do...
  24. Damn'it !! For the moment I put the pics as an attachment but do you know some easy server able to host my files? :icon_think: The disks waiting for their new home Front wheel completed The Bird pruodly showing its new present A detail... BTW... it's so strange: mi friends in Italy can see the "frogs" without any problem... boh...
  25. No more than a fancy? Plasma cutted, extremely well-finished, disk-carrier flanges obtained by a Ergal 7075 forged bloom... Cool, isn't it? But... really useful? Bah... honestly, the first reason of disks replacing has been only a fancy, of course, but the quality improvement is tangible: the absolute power has not been increased too much (caliper and pads are the same) but the quality of effort at the hand lever is now extremely linear and "solid". Now every mm of hand lever movement is proportionate af the braking power increase. Summarizing, I'm really happy. But not still satisfied I'm going to apply some drastic modification at entire front system, but I want te let the as less aesthetically invading as possible. Keep in contact
