Next up on Crazy Scotts used bike market...
racer212 replied to racer212's topic in The Sales Floor -- For Sale/Wanted
I think that would be a fitting spot for it. It IS too damn nice to dumpster - but gahhh is it unsafe right now. I have to look out for my company a bit. I will haul it to Denver or SLC if it makes it easier. -

No drugs, no shortcuts. A lot gym hours and putting the fork down. Firt guy probably couldn’t run to the end of my driveway. I couldn’t bench 115 pounds. Second guy ran a 10k at 50. Bench pressing my own weight. And more importantly, I feel good.

I will not sell it to someone planning to ride it home. Thats liability to me. It is NOT safe to ride anywhere. -

it doesnt. But it DOES need safety work and fair amount of it. Its say more than I can justify spending on it with hopes of a return. In its current condition its sketchy AF… but the guy wrote it 30 miles from his house to the store.. twice before we made a deal. -

2000 Suzuki VZ800 (aka Marauder). 29k miles. The Good - starts and runs well. Shifts ok at the 15mph or less I rode it. Bodywork is reasonably good / straight. After market seat. Thats about it. The bad - forks are HEAVILY blown - and have been for some time. Im not sure about the rear shock either. Brakes are HEAVILY contaminated. Im shocked the damn thing stopped when he rode it here- literal grease/oil on the rotor and pads. Chain'n sprockets needed replacement in 2006. Tires likely too. I "think" the frame is straight but the bolt on t-bar style handlebars sit tweaked in the triple. Knocked around during a fall I'm sure - cant guarantee bars are straight. This is one if no one wants it will go for scrap. Whoever buys its will get a title and " for parts only" BOS - do with it what you will. I'm genuinely scared to sell it locally because someone might actually try and ride it as is... If you can do labor yourself and spend some time with it - you could make a decent riding reliable bike out of this. Some investment would be required. $100 bike + $250 doc fee and tax for your location.

Compounded Tirzepatide now illegal (Zepbound, Mounjaro)
racer212 replied to SwampNut's topic in Diet & health exchange
I'm coming into this conversation completely ignorant on the topic. I know nothing about these drugs, how they work, why insurance doesnt cover it. Nothing. Last night my wife hit me up - she wants to go on Zepbound. Her doctor will prescribe it but says shes gonna need an expensive dose ($800-$900 a month). Like- REALLY? -
That was my thinking too.

We'll find out. Supposedly all I had done was sprained it and developed some tendonitis. Im on my feet all day every day. Yes, I definitely inflamed it - but I dont think its permanent damage damage. I'm thinking two weeks off my feet on the beach drinking muscle relaxers at this point.

Sometimes, I'm just stubborn. I went to the 10K event with the intent of just walking it if nothing else. I had paid $75 entry fee and had nothing else to do. Earlier in the week I had tried to run on my gym treadmill - even at a low speed - and couldnt take it. My knee just hurt too much. I had spent a couple days reading about ways to reduce knee strain when running. I iced up - applied some K-Tape as recommended instead of my velcro on knee brace- I think the tape made a huge difference. Popped 4 Advil. I decided to start at the very back of the pack and try and jog a little ways from the start line - I didnt want to be seen as a gimpy old guy lol. Weather was 26F, low clouds and biting wind. Course went up and down the Snake River - and you could feel cooler air off the water. Patches of ice on the course too. So I set out at a slow jog and found that if I kept that speed up my knee wasnt TOOO bad - so I stayed with it. There was a pack of lovely ladies going about my speed that I paced off of. It wasnt easy. I hadnt run that kind of distance since I was in high school. I turned up my music and sort of zoned. Suddenly found myself 8K in and still jogging. Climbing one of the final hills started to really set my knee off but at this point I decided to do my best and jog the rest of the way - which I did. Only time I walked was on a really iced up bridge over the river. I didnt set any speed records but I was far from last. When I had decided to try this my goal was to finish in under an hour. I came in at 1:06 mins. Had there been no ice and my knee been it better shape I would have beaten the hour easy. All those lovely younger ladies finished behind me... Did sort of hurt my feelings to be scored in the 50+ group though lol

Just hit the mark on Thursday. Been on my mind for several years as a waypoint for health, fitness and happiness. Doing pretty well on all three. Working out has been part of my life for 3 years now. Been learning to cook - mostly making HelloFresh kits for simplicity cooking for 1 but I'm starting to branch out and eating better (ok not crazy clean like some of you - but cleaner and less sugary) has helped with how I feel quite a bit. Got my teeth, my hair, and all the equipment works so not doing too bad. Was going to attempt my first 10K since I was 17 on Thanksgiving but I tweaked my knee and probably wont make it. Will take a swing in April.
