XXTi
Does anyone have a DID chain riveter that I can borrow, rent, lease, etc? I don't really want to buy the tool since I am a cheap bastard. I certainly don't want to trust the local area dealers to install my chain and sprockets. I can cut the old chain off, but I sure could use an authentic rivet tool to finish the installation. Can anyone help?
v00d00child
I'm a fellow tightwad, who just can't let go of $100 bucks for the chain tool. I called around, and of course noone was willing to loan/rent. The local stealerships wanted **$130** to throw the chain & sprockets on. I found a local shop that did it for $70. I'm new to the area & didn't know much about them, but they got it on dead nuts straight at least. I tried doing it an "alternate" way when I put the new chain on my old FJ1200. Trust me, you don't want to do it with anything other than the real tool.

CBR-RR-XX-CESS
There is another way that I have used once on a buddys 1200 Triumph .There is a master link that uses bolts that center punches the pins as you screw them down then you snap off the excess. That was three years ago without any problems. Don't know the brand but it came from afram.
RTGwalt
Am I the only NUT that can't live with this "rivet" crap!?! The bike comes from the factory with an endless chain. All the links are like the others. NO RIVET CRAP!! Why do we have to put up with riveting the chains? I would rather take apart the swing arm to install an endless chain - like the one that came on the bike new - than live with the f*king rivet! Paranoid...I know. But why? Why can't we order them? They're putting them on new bikes at the factory! RTG

Pete in PA
Have you noticed on the bikes where the chain goes through the swingarm, Hayabussa, ZRX12, etc. they have a rivet link from the factory.
