matthend
So there was a small crack in my seat fabric that was less than 1/8 inch long about a month ago... It has since grown to at least 1/2 inch or so and shows no signs of slowing. Is there anything at all I can do to impede this process, or am i just screwed and need to get it recovered? TIA
runner
Where on the seat? This may impact the repair process... FYI- I have seen really decent prices for used ones on ebay ($25)....

BobZ
Duct tape it....Wal-Mart has lots of different colors!!!! Seriously, a replacement seat is cheap, or a nice custom cover (super glue the crack first).
The Krypt Keeper
not really that hard to recover your seat. need material of choice pliers and screwdriver to remove old staples piece of chalk to mark material cut stitching on old cover to lay out material flat on top of new material give a little buffer when doing outline 1/4" or so. Can trim it up later also need overlap material where its to be sewn. (sew it on the back side to get a nice finished stitch) sew pieces together throw in dryer to heat up makes it easier to work with. start stapling back onto plastic seat pan making sure to keep it pulled tight to avoid wrinkles.
