motoracergabe
I need some help from your guys... I usually post on cbrxx.com but have slowly been coming more and more over here... Thread I made at the other site... So now, I have a 99-03 stator and am wanting to know if I could use it on my 97. From what I can see it looks just like the stator in my bike, just different connector. The connector to the harness is different but I can use the one from the old stator to hook it up... Any one ever try this? should I not attempt this and get a 97-98 stator? Do the stators have different outputs? Thanks
Hobicus
The 97 stator has different connectors, and connects (as I remember) into the wiring harness shortly after it comes out. The EFI stator (99+) has longer wires, runs along the rear sub frame, and connects to the RR in a different place. It also outputs more power (Watts). The only concern I'd have with it is running it with the stock RR. If I was in your shoes, I'd replace the stock RR with one from a Yamaha R1, and get the necessary wiring connector for the RR from bartonmd (here on this forum, check the for sale section). You can re-use the wiring plug from the old stator. Use a pick to work the connectors loose from the old stator, and the new one.
motoracergabe
I am running already running the R1 reg/rec. I have been running it for some time. I bought another one and installed it but the bike gave me the same problems. On the 3 yellow wires coming from the stator I am only getting 15ACV and should be getting 27-32. The new r/r didnt fix my problem AND i am getting this crappy reading from the 3 wires coming from the stator... so, I am guessing the stator is bad. Wtf am I gonna do with this 99-03 stator when I get another one? I can sell it to someone if they need it... I want to hurry up and fix my bike. Instructions: http://www.cbr1100xx.org/forums/index.php?...5&hl=stator Yes you can use it. You will have to pull the yellow wires out of the plug from the old one and re-use the the old plug. Are you getting 15VAC at idle, or after you rev the engine. 15VAC at idle is OK, but it should climb to 60+ when you rev the engine. If it is.. the stator's fine. motoracergabe
I am getting a peak of 15ACV on the yellow wires when revving it up. At idle, I think it was around 12... i think. I'm going to go ahead and swap the stator, switching the plugs. Hopefully all will be well.
