Got an 03 gsxr1000 and everytime I look to buy sprockets and chain, all there is listed is a 520 kit. Was going to buy oem 17/42 530- 110 link chain, but not sure the pros and cons of the 520 conversion. Would like to order chain and sprockets this weekend, but still unsure of what to get.

Any input would be awesome.

Pros-

Lighter, less rotating and unsprung mass.

Cons-

Much quicker wear, especially considering most if not all of those 520 kits come with an aluminum rear sprocket.

Leave the 520 kits for track bikes, they're impractical on a street bike.

Word. I'll stay oem. Saw a sweet buy on rk sprockets and chain. May go gold chain and levers.
