BackStreet
I want a new chain. How many links do I need? Is a clip type master OK? What brand / model do you recommend? PS: I don't take very good care of my chain.

I know people sometimes did not install the clip properly and reused clips/ damaged clips. I would guess the same people would not install a rivet master properly. alf03
I don't think that you will find a clip chain on any 1000cc or larger bike. Clips work well but not enough to be on a bike that puts out the kind of HP the bigger bikes do. You really need a rivet chain. If you oil the chain every 500 miles or so it will last a long time. Because a clip is more likely to let go that a rivet, and when it comes to chains, you can't be too careful. Don't get me wrong, clips links aren't inherently bad, I run one on the track bike. Difference is the track bike sees waaay more regular maintenance and checks than any street bike I've ever owned. So unless you're checking your chain every couple hundred miles, why risk it? Rivet it and forget it.
