TFT
I have the wheels off jackie's bike and was wondering about changing out the shock. I replaced the shock on my 97 XX and it only had 3,000 miles on it. Jackie's bike has 17,000 miles on it. Is it worth it to put my old shock on hers? If its the same shock I'm thinking it would be. Keith
A quick check with the parts fiche at Ron Ayers shows the part numbers remain the same across several years ('97, '00 and '03 are the same), so I think you'd be fine.
97xxca
The 97_98 rear shock had more firm damping set up than the later ones, but they will bolt on.

I have an '01 on my '97. Direct bolt-in.
