My bird is gargling

I know, it sounds funny...

It's always run hot, they all do from what I hear. I think i might have the ever so slightest leak in the cooling system. Tell me if I'm off base.

When I shut down you can hear the coolant gurgling around, like it's boiling somewhere... Now, the levels are good, and it runs cool enough as long as you're moving. I'm using water wetter and keep an eye on the level all seems well. Do you guys pull the fairing and check it from the cap or the reserve tank is good enough?

Thnx,

May be a normal sound. I have never really "listened" to my bike after shutting it down, and as it cools it will be pulling coolant from the reservoir, so expect some noise.

As for level, you should be able to remove the cap when it's on the sidestand and cooled if you reach through the fairing.

Cool, hadn't tried to remove the cap with the fairing on, I always want to do it when it's hot naturally, while it's making noise since I'm thinking about it, when it's cool, I'm like, ahh screw it. lol Guess I'll take a walk out there now, it's cool. :)

Gargling, yeah, I usually don't listen either, but it's pretty notice-able. Sounds like something isn't quite right.

I'd apply that same thought to your idea of removing the radiator cap while the bike is hot.......

If its 'gargling' then you have air leaking in to the system somewhere, most likely a bad radiator cap if you are not losing coolant on the ground. Either that, or your system is moving coolant to the expansion tank...

The only time I've had something "gargle" is when it was boiling coolant in the engine (or a blown head gasket, but that only gargled when it was running, and stopped when it shut down)... Check your radiator cap, because a lot of what stops the system from boiling is the 16PSI that the cap keeps in the system when it's hot...
