DeaconXX
I'm thinking about buying a 2003 F-150 reg cab V-6, nothing special sort of pickup. I would like to lower it, but I also want to carry the bird around in the bed safely and without sagging in the rear. Does anybody have any experiece in this area? DeaconXX
From what I read, the stock 2003 lightning suspension can handle a 1400lb payload, so I may just install those components or similar. Input anybody? Bueller?
beondwacko
Deacon has a good point. You could even prob' find what you need on ebay. I didn't drop my S-10 because of the same reason. If I were to lower it 2'' , that would be that much less suspension travel it would have when loaded. As you know , S-10's are 1/2 ton rated, but let me tell ya' , that 1/2 ton must be a light one. The XX put's the truck down quite a bit.
EVLXX
Lower it.... Just make sure you put AIR BAGS on it. That way you can adjust the truck to each payload.... if and when you load it.
DeaconXX
Bags might not be a bad idea. If i toughen up the suspension enough to handle the bird, it'll probably ride like crap. I like the idea of being able to vary the load capability, I must look into this...
EVLXX
And adjustable shocks. Then you'll have the perfect set-up for what ever you need to do. lowerd My Dads 72 Chevy.... the Bags were really nice when he wanted to haul a 1/2 ton of firewood. Put a little air in.... good to go. Unload the truck.. take a little air out.... beautiful. Loved the ride.
