Clutch Lever Pivot

Hi ya'll,

Pathetic question, but here it is. From riding a lot in the rain here in Florida, my clutch lever is now creakin' and squeakin' at the pivot point. Should I just put some aerosal (sp?) oil WD-40 or whatnot? Or should I take the lever off and put some heavy grease/lubicant (bearing grease, waterproof) in there and re-assemble.

Thanks

L8R,

Rob

Have you tried Astro Glyde personal lubricant. It's gets really slick when mixed with warm water. Florida rain is warm water right.

Or try WD40 to loosen it up then a little drop of spray grease should do it.

Take off bottom nut first, then unscrew screw. clean and lube with moly grease. Anything else and it comes back too fast. (especially in rain)

That is the recommended procedure. What you are hearing is the brass bushing wearing against the steel pivot bolt, and if you let it go too long the bolt will wear out the bushing and you'll be looking at buying a new lever.
