Alright heres the deal....

I've burnt through the back tire but the front looks fine...

the tires are still stock oem but I am thinking of changing to Pilot Roads....

with my front tire being good, is it kosher to only change the rear to a Pilot? Or will there be any problems...???...

I have to put the rear on so should I just have them both swapped out...???...

Sorry to ask such a greenhorn question but I gotta fugure this out....

Leaving for Tennessee this thursday.....

Thanks for your input....

The general consensus is to never mix brands on a bike. The different tire compounds and overall construction can cause some weird handling problems. Now if you were going with another stock rear, that'd be ok, but since you're not, I'd get both done at the same time.

I've run an Avon front with a Dunlop rear. I didn't have any problems. The biggest thing is to not put a pure sport tire on the rear with a sport touring on the front. You always want to make sure the front has as much or more grip than the rear. A rear slide is easier to control and get out of than a front is.

Curt,

Yesterday Recreational had the Pilot Power sets in stock for the Bird, but I don't think they had the roads. Full Throttle in Lansing is where I got the BT020's put on. They where alright price wise and did a good job if you want to go stay with the Bridgestones.

If you get it replaced and want to ride before you leave hit me up.

Ethan
