Moriartii
I am about to replace the lifter set (CCT) on my 97 'bird in the next few days. I have the new lifter and gasket arriving tomorrow. One thing I am unclear on tho in my forum reading and in the service manual, do I need to apply any type of sealant to the new gasket when installing it? Thank you Kinley

speedygeezer
Sometimes the original gasket sticks to the case. If it does, leave it there and install the new lifter minus the new gasket. It'll be ok......

LongHaul
Warchild, thanks for your original post and for digging it up again. I've been listening to my Blackbird for the past few days thinking, "Is that CCT getting louder and how much trouble will it be?" Thanks
Squareman357
Mine is definitely sounding like marbles now. I need to get my hands on a new CCT. Anyone still selling them?

EVLXX
On that gasket issue.... there is No oil pressure behind it, so a gasket is almost not even needed. You could cut out a new gasket out of just about any cardboard or very lightly coat the old gasket with some silicon.
