  4. I HATE BAD SERVICE!

I called these guys up seeing as how there is only a couple manufacturers for lock-up clutches for the XX. I get this guy on the phone who talks to me for about 15 minutes on why I should run a multistage lock-up. GREAT! I give my Visa number and shipping information. In my business I call this a sale. HOWEVER....a week goes by and there is no charge on my Visa....hmmmmm.....I call up MRE and get the same guy on the phone again and ask what is happenng with my order....."oh yeah, I have been meaning to call you. There is not a multi-stage for your year of bike" no problem, there is still the standard lock-up that I can run.I confirm my shipping info again and tell him no prob. just ship the other clutch and we will go from there. In my business this is called an honest mistake, and a save of a sale. SOOOO...now I have waited yet another week, and I have checked my Visa and still no bill. WTF?!?!?!? so now we are going on 3 weeks for something that should have taken 4 business days. Did I mention I am getting pissed? Jay at Murcoch Racing is NOT going to be happy to hear me frirst thing Mon. a.m.

  5. quick update.

the bike has been lowered as you can see from the pictures, I have had the stock seat cut down about 2 inches in the front half to get me lower in the saddle. I just ordered an MRE multistage lock-up clutch today and should prove interesting when it comes in. My grandpa and father in law are starting to get involved in the project as one is an amazing machinist and the other can TIG weld aluminum.....I guess I will find out if he enjoys me being part of the family.....as far as a cutdown oil pan....I like oil....alot.... so I will hold off for now. Every Funny-car i have ever worked on had a 14-17 litre pan.

  6. Hey Northman,

Want to come be a sales rep for my NAPA auto parts store?

most tech's just bang a new rotor on and punch on to the next job...then wonder why the brakes squeel and pulsate....you are doing it exactly right. This is PERFECT ADVICE.

  7. lotsa the busa drag guys run this style of bodywork. the bodywork all around where the seat is, is actuallly stretched lengthwise to make the extended wheelbase look more in proportion. if anyone else has a clearer description of what I am talking about please jump in.

  8. I have to mention what a great time I had dealing with John's bike bits. I was planning a trip to his City and had called him a couple of days in advance about a new tail light as well as turn signal lenses. I arrived a couple of days later and sure enough they were there waiting for me. Now this in itself isn't enough to impress me, it's what followed that left me thinking that I would certainly deal with this company again. John was checking out a new untested product when I arrived, this happened to be a prototype hugger and undertail for the Blackbird. He talked about finding a new supplier in the area and was pretty pumped about this product and I could see why. The fibreglass creations were works of art that I would be proud to have on my bike. However John was not sold entirely on the setup and when he discovered a section that needed some attention, he said that he would not carry this piece until it was right. Thats when I knew I could trust the items he offered on his website. This thing looked GREAT, but he wasn't satisfied until it was as close to perfect as possible. You can rest assured that when you deal with John's bike bits, you are getting great parts for your Blackbird.
