  1. If I had a dime for every time Howie called me up and told me about the next trick bit that this bike has on her...

I'd probably have at least ten bucks.

This is a top notch bike and I'm supremely bummed to not be in the market to buy it. Easily 10k in this machine, not counting the bike, nor the fact that you can't get this stuff anymore.

  2. 97 crankshaft.

Needs one rod journal welded and polished. I can be convinced to measure the main and rod journals to let you know what kind of wear is on it overall. This was from Pauly's motor, lost a rod and I needed the cases. I can't remember his screen name.

Or sit it on your mantle as a conversation piece.

    Or melt it down.

    Use it as a hammer.

I also have a clutch basket and clutch cover.

  3. That just made it worth it.

    Well, I don't know about that... :icon_wink:

Doing well, sfarson and I went and bought VFRs. Fantastic bike, if a bit slow every so often. I suppose I'll buy an XX again, just not right now.

This thread brings back some memories for moi.

    Hey, Tim. How's it going?

Brent, looks like your mill was in good hands, a turbo XX must be a force to respect. Kudos.

    J.

  4. As far as the pair valve area, the valve covers are the same thru the years since my kits fit all years of blackbirds. I know that the heads are different, likely where the injectors reside, unless they reside in the intake manifold. I don't know, really, whether the valve cover has any other differences from carbureted to injected.
Cover is the same, only difference in the heads is where the cam position sensor mounts on the side of the head of the FI models.

I'ma send you a beer. PM me your address.

    Thanks, Dean.

    You too, Joe.

    No angst here...

  5. There is a parts interchange book, I think Joe has a copy of it.

Hell, I got a copy of it. I'm not sure which computer it's on, though.

If need be, I'll attempt to find the parts interchange book. If someone has the interchange fische on PDF (that is the format I recall having) PM me with the server location and I will go to the effort to look it up.

But for now, I can only say that I'm sure this fits 97-98 'birds.

  6. Can't wait for the rear sets. :icon_silenced:

    Wait no more...

Fullsize versions of all of the rearset photos here

Be sure to see the full size of the heel guards especially. They have some anodizing polished off, as well as the more obvious outer portion of the foot peg knurling. The remainder of the flaws are easier to see, a nick here and there.

I've tried to get decent shots of these so that the buyer knows exactly what he's getting and there are no surprises. :icon_drunks:
