  1. I have the exact same thing and I'm pretty sure it's from the GIVIs. I'm not even sure if it's possible to torque them so that won't happen. marty
  2. I’ve got a 97. I’ve been noticing the clutch slipping for a while. I changed my oil and it was better, but with less than 3000 km after the oil change, (Mobile 1), it’s gotten really bad. What would you do? Replace the plates? Replace the whole clutch? Is there a better aftermarket one I should be looking at? Would a post 99 clutch fit, and if so, would that be a good idea? and How easy is it to do myself? Finally, could it be something else? Thanks marty
  3. I have the Avon on the back. It’s great once it warms up and damn does it last. I’m not pleased with it in the rain though, and will be looking forward to a compromise next time. It has broke free several times under what I would not call a heavy throttle, and forget about any kind of lean in the rain. I expect it to slide there and it rarely disappoints. My last rear was the 012SS. It frickin stuck in anything but if you are on the slab much, the profile goes flat in no time and you’re replacing it in less than 4000 km. I still have the BT 010 on the front. It has let go a few times but under conditions that I would not blame the tire. It’s cupping, but I managed to get some good mileage out of it before it did. Under very heavy braking it loses stability and feels much like an under inflated tire. I have heard this from others as well. Hope this helps marty
  4. Gees you can't compare it to that Suzuki gearbox, don't even try. Mine's always been clunky. I would change the oil/filter too, first thing. What does the whine sound like? "I wanna go on a cruise"? "We never talk anymore"? Leave the wife at home next time and see if that fixes it. marty
  5. I just ordered two sets of greens for the front, and a set of blacks for the rear. Spoke to Jackie and she gave me a 15% discount for my association with the board. The total, including shipping came to $105.89 u/s. Very good compared to what I paid for the last set up here. marty
  6. I've plugged M/C tires before and never had a problem. How much rubber left? If it wouldn't last the season anyway, then maybe look at just replacing it. Oh I would imagine the tire is compromised. you now have a hole in the belt, a good place for it to start to separate. If you were to plug it, My guess is that you would have to keep the speed a little lower, check the pressure just about every morning, and look at replacing it pretty close to the wear bars. edited to add: Make sure it's all the way through. a lot of times they bend lengthways to the tread. If not, just pull it out and you're good to go.

    Brakes

Mine were shot at 5,000 miles. Fronts last almost three times that long. Actually it's the rears that look like they're gone...again!!!! I've never had a bike that went through rear brakes like this.

A couple of questions How long do the pads normally last? What do you normally pay for a set. Looks like mine are gone again (replaced last year); and if memory serves, paid $95.00 cdn for them. Seems a bit steep to me. marty
