  1. It certainly makes getting to the spark plugs easier, and for me that was worth

the time and energy to do the block offs. Plus, when it's time for the next valve

check, that will be easier, as well.

  2. There no need to check it every time the wheel is removed, chain adjusted, etc. You just need to figure out the error on the adjustment marks and go from there.

Example, if you measure that left side needs to be 3mm further back,it is gonna be always 3mm further back regardless of position of the axle in the swingarm.

Exactly. Used the string method once to figure out the error in the factory marks and now use

those with the proper adjustment whenever I change tires, adjust chain, etc.

  3. Still have some wiggle room. Frankly, as FUBAR as the wiring setup is (you'd think there'd be a discrete way to route it), you can just cannibalize the stock lights to make them shorter. That's what I eventually did.

+1 on that. As you did, I just shortened the stock lights so they would clear the wing rack.

  4. So that diagram is a bit of a help, if not the complete answer.

That was page one of the two page installation instructions. I can post the other page

when I get home tonight, if that would help. It probably shows what pieces go where.

    LMK.

  5. My Yoshi RS3s have over 25,000 miles on them and I have not noticed an appreciable

change in their loudness, although they do seem a bit more throaty now. I think they

improve with age and don't plan on repacking them any time soon.

  6. I've never put anything on the pad backing. Just be sure to clean up the pistons before

you push them back into the caliper when you are making room for the new pads; you

don't want all that road grime, etc., getting inside the caliper bores.

  7. I really like the 18T up here in the mountains. The ration seems to be much better

for this terrain. With the 17T, 1st always seems too low and 2nd too high, but the

18T solves that problem. It is a fact that starting up on an incline with the 18T requires

a bit more clutch slippage, however.

  8. Just got the chance to swap pegs and the ST peg works on the Bird. The detent also works to hold the peg up. Here are some pics of the pegs together with the mounting pin and the ST peg on the Bird.

Just a quick question, as I don't see where you have specified: are those the ST rider pegs or pillion pegs? Thx.

  9. No, I'm not interested in packing them, but I'll think about it. I don't believe just slapping a shipping label

on them is a good idea, unless you want a lot more scratches and maybe a few dents in them. I doubt

UPS/FedEx/USPS are going to be all that careful with them. So, they would need to be individually boxed or

in the same box with a lot of padding around them.

Anyway, if no one local pipes up, I'll consider it; are you sure you're willing to pay all of the shipping

costs? The silver wheels cost me $100 in shipping, and that was without tires... That was from Canada, so

    maybe inter-USA would be cheaper.

  10. I have the original set of wheels from my '03 sitting around the garage and I'd

like to get rid of them. I purchased a set of silver wheels from a guy on Ebay to

replace the black OEMs (I like the look of the silver wheels on the black XX better).

The OEMs have a set of Pilot Roads on them with maybe 1000 miles left in

them. The wheels had about 30,000 miles on them when I took them off, so the

wheel bearings are probably in OK condition. They have the usual scratches that

you get from removing/reinstalling the wheels for tire changes, but are otherwise

in perfect condition, i.e. not dents, cracks, or other blemishes.

I'm not interested in shipping these things; they weigh a ton with the tires on them

and boxing them up would be a PITA. So, I'd only be interested if someone more

or less local wanted them. Say Stockton to Sacramento to the motherlode foothills

of CA. We could arrange a place to meet in between. I'm down in Folsom at work

Monday-Thursday, so could deliver in the Sacramento area.

NOTE: they do NOT have the disk rotors on them; those were transferred to the

silver wheels. The rear wheel does NOT have the rubber thingys in it nor does it

have the sprocket or sprocket carrier; they were transferred, too.

I'd like to get what I paid for the silver wheels, which was $50/each. Or make me

    an offer.

    LMK.
