  1. Thanks. That's good input. The mileage will be a problem, I know, so I'm going to first

concentrate on selling it on places where people know that, for a Blackbird, 44k miles

is nothing, such as here and on the other XX forum.

As for selling items separately, I don't have the strength/stamina anymore to do any

removal of components. R/R of the shock absorber would be completely beyond my

abilities now. R/R of the Power Commander would be equally difficult. As such, I'm going

to sell her as is, with all the goodies in place; it's the only I can do at this point.

  2. I have a full Givi wing rack (without turn signals) and top box mount that I no longer want. I

wasn't using the side bag mounts, so I removed the whole setup. I would still like to have the

option of using a top box now and then, as it would work for carrying my oxygen, so I was

looking at the SW-Motech Alu-Rach unit. It's nice, small, and nondescript when mounted,

which is something I would like.

So, thought I ask if anyone here who has the SW-Motech unit might be interested in a trade.

The SW-Motech unit sells for about $140 on Twisted Throttle, where as the complete Givi setup

(Y158 and N140) runs around $200, I think. I would be interested in a straight across trade,

including shipping, i.e. I ship mine to you, you ship yours to me.

I can email pictures of my wing rack components, if you would be interested in seeing them.

I have all parts, bolts, nuts, washers, etc., as well as the mounting instructions.

    Thanks.

    -Keith

  3. I'm pretty partial to my Yoshi RS3s. Nice, mellow sound, but will definitely be heard

    at full chat. They have 25,000 miles on them now and are really in need of a repack;

IMO, they've become too loud after all those miles. I have the repack kit from Yoshi

in the garage, just need time and energy to get the job done.

  4. I called Dave Hodges at GP Suspension today and discussed how to upgrade the suspension on the Blackbird. Ultimately, we decided to do the same things as were done to my FJR1300.

    Fork Services

    Labor

    Oil

    Fork Seals

    GP Suspension Fork Springs

Correct Valving Stack on Rebound Pistons

    Compression Kit

    Dust Seals, Bushings

    Rear Shock Absorber

Penske Model #8983 (felt that it would be a better choice than the Ohlins)

I had Dave at GP do all of that to my forks a couple of years back when there was

a group buy. It made a major difference in the handling of the 'bird. I got the 8981

shock, which is the unit being offered on the group buy, which also made a huge

difference in handling; I don't know what the difference between the two might be.

Edit: I just looked back in my records: the forks were $465 and the shock was $760

    on the group buy.

  5. Thanks for the assistance but I checked the kill switch instead and it started right up.....

I always check the kill switch first when the bike won't start. It seems 50% of the

time I leave the bike in a parking lot, some numb nuts decides it would be really funny

to trip the kill switch and hope I'll spend an hour trying to figure out why the bike

    won't start. :icon_rolleyes:

  6. Interesting input. I asked him about the difference between the GPs and the regular, full

size cans, and he said they were not as loud... I guess, as I said before, that I'll repack

my Yoshimuras. Thanks for the updated info.

  7. +1 on my '03 it goes off at 209 F. I see temps in the 220's and even up to the 230's.

Interesting. Mine goes off at about 200. Also see as high as upper 220s; have never seen 230.
