  1. John, Are yours the OEM CCT? How do they compare with the X11 CCT here a while ago? Which one is better? Thanks. -mike-
  2. Does anybody have Russell seat? It looks extremely comfortable for a long ride: http://www.day-long.com/new_pages/honda.html# (and click on "CBR1100xx") -mike- PS: I had the Corbin G&L and sold it as I didn't like it: the nose of the seat is too high that I had to sit way far back . The leather seat cover was too slippery and it was **HEAVY**
  3. May be :-) But it's inexpensive enough that I want to ride in comfort :-)
  4. Definition of PCM: http://www.pcmenergy.com/
  5. Yes it's returnable. I don't know about military clothing but I'm familiar with military-grade (MIL-SPEC) electronics parts and their quality is way above commercial parts.
  6. I couldn't stand the heat in Southern CA anymore even though I have a full perforated leather jacket. At 100+ degree I decided that no jacket is going to help me so I ordered a phase change & evaporative cooling combination vest, made by Techniche: http://www.techniche-intl.com/conte...category/20/58/ This is a vest that uses "cool packs" that keeps the temperature at 58F for 2-3 hours and it's also an evaporative vest that soaks in water. We can use either mode or both at the same time. It was designed for military so it must be better than good. I'm waiting for the delivery so I can't comment on its performance yet. I ordered it from here: http://northamericanpride.com/page2.html
  7. I recently replaced my stock bulbs with Philips Vision Plus. See some before/after pics here and decide for yourself: http://www.pbase.com/motorcyclist/lightnings -mike-
  8. Here is the manual page:
  9. Ok, I just received the FF50 driving lights and they are well made. It came with relay, wires and switch. Now the questions are: - I checked out BLM for the brackets but at $103 a pair it's ridiculous. I'm sure they are well made but at $100+ I'm going to try to cut my own :-) So any recommendations? - what's a good source to tap for switched power to drive the relay? (The included relay has a built-in 15A fuse so I'm going to put it right under the seat and then run wires all the way to the front) Thanks! -mike-
  10. Yes, the fuel lines are cheap to replace (in a garage). If they burst when you're riding and spraying fuel on top of a hot engine, BOOM! Bye bye... :-) Pete and I have carb'd bikes... no FPR... Just fuel lines to worry about, and those take quite a bit of abuse before going, and are cheap to replace... Mike
  11. ...and use a caliper to measure the master link pin before and after. The shop manual specifies a range for DID and RK chain.
  12. Thank you all, for the info. I appreciate it. Bonox, you have a nice setup there. How did you install your lights by the mirrors? Were they attached to the mirror mounting bolts? Did they create more vibrations on the mirrors? Thanks again. -mike-
  13. Hi all, I just ordered a pair of Hella FF50 driving lights from ebay. I have a few questions that I would appreciate your comments: - What's the best mounting position for these lights? Do you have some pics that I can see? what kind of brackets do you use? - Mine is a 97 XX with 390W alternator. However, I don't have to run fuel pump/LCD dash/FI computer like the FI bikes so I do have more reserve than FI bikes. Still, are these additional lights (55wx2=110w) going to strain my alternator? I don't have anything special beside the stock 55w low and 55w high beam, plus a single 15/50w tail light bulb (and some rear LED brake lights that are insignificant in power consumption). I have a Widder heated vest but I rarely use it (that consumes 35w I believe) Thank you for any help/info/comments. -Mike-
  14. I purchase a "high tech", billet, re-usable filter from Scott's in Cali, It was outrageously expensive by the time it arrived in Canada, but the "tech" who works on my bike, yes, I use the dealer where I bought the bike, suggested I stick with Honda OEM parts. Here it sits, looking beautiful, and I don't know whether to install it or not. Suggestions, has anyone use this product? I wouldn't bother with it myself. Yes, I did look at it seriously a while ago and I asked myself: how the heck am I going to clean it? Even if I could, it'll be a bigger mess that just replace the filter (and now you will have to recycle the solvent that you use to clean it and also the used oil, instead of just the oil)
  15. Saw that Redbird did the same thing a while ago and here are his pictures: http://www.cbr1100xx.org/forums/index.php?...=caliper++drill
  16. Thanks for all these info. One question on the delinking: - Does the brake lever stop closer to the bar now as the master cylinder has to push more fluid to drive all 3 pistons instead of 2? (Same question for the rear brake pedal) Thanks.
  17. Is this the one that you were talking about? It's $20 each here: http://www.suvlights.com/product_info.php?products_id=164 I bought my VisionPlus from this site too. Yeah, I had those on my XX before upgrading to HID. They are great bulbs. Very noticable, but not near the HID. Just the same, phillips is a fraction of the cost. Or, you can replace the 1350lumen vision+ H7's with Danielsternlighting 2100lumen 65W H9 burner on an H7 base lights... When I went to HID, I couldnt' hardly tell when my bright was on or off, now it's a BIG difference... They're only ~$30 each at your door too... Mike
  18. I just installed 2 Philips VisionPlus H7 55w on my 97 XX. Here are some pictures: http://www.pbase.com/motorcyclist/lightnings I salute those who could replace the bulbs without removing the upper fairing :-) Even though I removed the 2 upper fairings, it was a pain to reinstall those clips!
  19. What year XX are you going to try these on? Mine is 97. The headlight bulb should be the same, H7 but the tail/brake bulb is different for 99 and later, is that right? Mine uses 1157 tail bulb.
  20. I just bought a pair of this 35-LED bulbs to give it a try. This one has both forward and sideway facing LEDs: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2pcs-1157-H...sspagenameZWDVW I have also ordered a pair of H7 Philips VisionPlus that I read a lot of good things about: http://www.suvlights.com/product_info.php?products_id=99
  21. It's 12-15lbs. There is a piece of paper in the bag. I torqued it to 13 lbs. Make sure you have a torque wrench that can go that low. I like it a lot. The front brake feel is a LOT firmer now.
  22. How about this one, http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1157-18-LED...063951318QQrdZ1 it has LED facing the back and around the side.
  23. Pete, I assume that these 30-led bulbs have both running and brake lights? So does it work? Does it light up some of the 3-led in running light then light up the rest when braking or are all 30 LEDs lit all the time?
  24. Pete, I believe 97/98 have the same housing (side by side bulb instead of later model's top bottom.) Did you install 1 or 2 of those 30-led bulb? Got any pics? Thanks. mike
