  1. any one know the OD and id of a washer that will work for adding a 1/4 to 1/2 inch for my font end???

I measured the inside diameter of the fork on my 97 XX and it's 37 mm.

  2. Glad to be able to help. I ordered from sprocketcenter too, even though I'm in CA and I have to pay tax :-)

    Just to follow up.

    D.I.D. 530ZVMX Super Street X'ring Chain & Steel Sprocket Kit - HONDA CBR 1100XX 97-04

    -Chain Color: Gold Plated ($0.00)

    -Front Sprocket Size: 17 ($0.00)

    -Rear Sprocket Material: Steel ($0.00)

    -Rear Sprocket Size: 45 ($0.00)

    Total with shipping $229.90

Thanks for the suggestion Testrider. The Sprocket Center was the cheapest place I could find.

  3. The link you showed seems to be a U-bolt mount. I used the clutch clamp mount.

I think this was the one I got:

    See mine here:

Guys, I am trying to determine what RAM mount set up to use to hold my GPS and iPod. I am a bit flummoxed by the stem mounting possibilities, and so am wondering if you think this would fit on either side of the bars. I have long enough RAM arms to make it work if it did fit in the clutch or brake reservoir bolts.
  4. Thanks Keith,

and it looks like it has a Corbin seat too...

However, with a 2001 and 15k miles, I would guess the following will need to be done asap

    at the minimum:

    - all brake fluid, clutch fluid, fork fluid, engine oil change ($100?)

    - all brake hoses ($200?)

    - all brake pads ($120)

    - new tires ($300)

    - new chain/sprockets ($300)

    - probably needs an upgraded CCT? R/R?

So that's another $1200, plus the 10% sales tax...

Also, which year XX had the wiring hardness recalled?

    I was tempted... :-)

  5. Brand new? Do you know how much are they selling for?

    Thanks.

I don't know if bringing this to folks attention is violation of rules or not---hopefully not---but stopped by the local dealer for small parts for my '97 and threre in the used department was the cleanest 2001 I've personally seen since they were new on the showroom floors. If anyone is interested in such as item---it's at Cal Coast Motorsports in Ventura, Ca.

Google is your friend. I would post a link but again, I don't know what is appropiate for this section and this is the 1st one I've seen for sale that I felt others might like to know about. Happy trails, kel

  6. Wow, that's incredible mileage. It must be Testrider's weight and his riding style.

Jeeze, my fat ass would never get over 6K on a Pilot Road, ON THE ST1300!!!!!!!!! Too many wheelies I guess.

I weight 165 lbs without gears. However, I almost always have my Givi top box with me to carry the tools/first aid kit/air compressor etc... that weights at least another 30-35 lbs. While I don't do burn-out or wheelies, but I do ride hard and accelerate hard every chance I got. I'm not easy on my throttle. All my previous tires (I have used only Bridgestone BT56 before I switched to Michelin PR) lasted from 10k-14k miles...

  7. Thank you all, for your inputs and I appreciate them all.

Jaygermeister's comment had the touch of a Zen master :-)

Since there were more 'YES' to replace than 'NO', I'm going to replace them this weekend, since I already have a new set of Michelin Pilot Road sitting in my garage and I also have a Nomar tire changer and balancer. Then I won't have to think about it all the time while on my trip.

Again, thank you all. Your inputs are valuable, as always.

    Ride safe.

  8. Holy shit, how do you get that kind of mileage out of a Pilot Road?

Based on getting 11,600 miles out of the tire to this point, I'd say you'd probably be fine, but my experience is they go much quicker toward the end of their life. I'd spend the $150 just for the peace of mind on the trip. IMO, YMMV, ect, ect...

Thanks for the reply, Redbird and Magoo, I have been using OEM Bridgestone and none of them lasted less than 10k miles on my bird and I'm not easy on the throttle either :-) I weight 165 lbs without gear but that shouldn't matter, as I always have my Givi top box with me that weights at least 30 lbs with my tools/first aid kit/ tire patch kit/air compressor etc...

I already have a new set of Michelin PR sitting in my garage and I have the Nomar tire changer. I am just lazy to do anything before the trip. I guess I'll replace them this weekend then...

  9. Guys,

I have a set of Michelin Pilot Road on my XX. The attached pictures were taken this morning and they had 11600 miles. I'm going on a 1500-mile trip next week. Do you think I need to replace my tires before the trip or I can wait until after?

    Thanks for any comments.

  10. Anybody got a low mileage (< 20k miles?) rear shock that you want to give away? My 97XX has 56k miles and I think the rear shock is worn. I can't afford an Ohlins or Penske now so if you have a low mileage rear shock that I can use, it'll be great.

    Thanks.

    -mike-

PS: I think all shocks fits all years?

PS2: can the OEM rear shock be rebuilt for cheap?

  11. This is mine. I put it in a corner of my garage and when I need to use it, I install it to the receiver hitch. This is a Nomar classic and I ordered it with the receiver hitch mount, instead of the floor mount.

That 2 X 4 underneath come with the kit? :icon_whistle:

No, that was optional. Precut to the correct length, for another $100 extra... :icon_angel:

  12. MRA Vario Touring screen for sale $85 + UPS shipping. This is the one with the adjustable spoiler. Sale to US only as I really don't want to ship international as UPS shipment tracking in US is a lot easier and more reliable.

I bought it from twistedthrottle.com for $150 a year or so ago and I don't like it.

    http://www.twistedthrottle.com/trade/productview/1280/363/

It's in excellent condition with some small scratches (see pic) when I removed it. It can be touched up with some black paint on the back.

It fits my 97XX but I think it fits all year.

  13. I have the MRA Vario Touring, and love it. I can sit upright until about 95mph. I'm 6'2".

With the MRA Vario Touring windshield and Heli bars, I found that when I stand up with

my head above the windshield, my helmet is a lot more quiet than sitting down, so that

means the windshield was directing the wind right at my helmet.
