  1. North, you have to remember that at the Beaver dragstrip they spray something tacky down on the pavement.  It acts like rubber cement in the launch area.

I was there before everyone else showed and watched this.

Can anyone more in the know tell us what this stuff is?

With my experience on the street with the 45/46's I'd say go for it.  Drop your pressures, give them time to warm up, and work your speed up slowly.

They stick on the street well enough for me to bevel my feelers down so I have to buy new ones.

Pete it is called Track-Bite

  2. you guys are loosing more menbers than you realize

    One would be enough.

PS- it's losing, and I think you meant members- moron.

I only wish someday I can be as Intelligent and good speller just like you redbird  , whats your secret

  3. Are these the only BMW grips any of you have tried?  I seem to remember one one of the boards/lists I'm on that someone found a set of BMW grips that were great.  Anybody remember?

Most likley me, been using these grips for the last 6 years , first on my ST-1100, then on the bird, the grips on the bird have over 50,000 miles them drove another bird which had gel grips on, K12 grips are far supieror in my opinion

  4. Is there any reason why you can't replace your tire(s) if necessary while you are on your ride?

I can think of a few:  You just realizied your tire is shot and its Sunday

The closest dealer is 50 miles away and tells you in about two days we can mount them

They don'nt have the tire in stock you want

They don,nt have the right size in stock

The dealer has the upper hand and you will pay full price

  5. Why put yourself in that situation :???: , takr the Macadems off, put on a new set, then put the Macadems back on for local riding  , Nothing worse than your trip being ruined  , I have also got 9,000 out of the rear, now go spend your money vs. loosing sleep during your trip

  6. Should of clearified my self better :) , I was refering to using the bike as mainly a dragbike, which you could run lower tire pressure  and I wider tire for better hook-up. I have done this with my stock bike and stock tire and it works especially on a cold day

  7. Theirs only one advantage to running a widder rear tire, If your planning on dragracing it on a regular schedule  More rubber on the ground, wider contact patch

  8. Jim, the first 200 miles run 34F 36R  , once their scrubed in run 40/42  Street

    Harry

PS; I am wondering how many of us are running these tires :???: , or maybe I should ask who Is'nt

  9. Friend of mine on a 02 Daytonna 955I  , has the Sportec front and the Mez4 rear  . He swears by this combo and both tires should wear out equally  . He rode with me two days of Intense riding in W.V. and stuck even in the rain

  10. I know most of us are running the Avons 45/46   , anyone try the Avon 49/46 combo :?: . alittle more traction from the front tire can't hurt. the Avon rep said only about 20 percent less mileage and the tire are compatable with each other

By the way my front (45) will go over 10,000 miles

    Harry

  11. Pete

Just chexked my AV46 at 3800 miles. 3/32 or 2mm  , I am running 42 Lbs  , you may have gotten a bad tire  , It does happen  , DO NOT, repeat DO NOT put your tire on the roof, this could effect the tire structure, or heat cycle

front should last over 10,000 miles.  . I know your pissed based on the Imfo from the Board members  Either you got a bad tire or about 15 guys on this board purposly lied and bullshitted  . I will put my money on the 1st choice

Now go order another rear and run 42 lbs and stop doing those wheelies and burnouts

    Cheer-up

    Harry

  12. Pete

What I do is go by the outside temp  , If its going to be 70 or higher I run max cause the temp on the ground will keep the tire's warm  , on a cool day I run a few pound less, on a cold day under 50 I may run 35 front and 38 rear

On my trip in W.V. where we were in the mid 90's (way to hot for me but had a great time anyway) had the tires on max (42/42) during one of many water breaks felt the tire's, they were hot and spongie   , never once broke loose

I have the Avons 45/46, best tire period

    Harry
