  1. Not sure if that's just sales tactics or this is a fact, but......

I emailed the HID seller, to find out if I can buy just the half of the kit, as I couldn't find anyone to split the one from the GB.

Not paying any attention, I e-mailed the seller that StPeteXX was setting up.

His kit is boxed like this...

...and it's marked as the 5th generation.

This is what I've got in the reply, regarding the kit from the GB....

    Hi,

That is the generation 2 ballast and we do not sell that. The generation 2 ballast has really high failure rate because the products was made 3 years ago. Please be aware .

    Jerry

Thought you may want to know.....

  2. Is anyone splitting the 6000K kit ?

I emailed them for the half (that's how I've got my first bulb) but got ignored.... BTW I was quoted over $300 for the Accord kit (9006)....

    Anybody ?.....

  3. My Pro Grip grips lost their grip....

They started to spin. I tried the hirspray, grip glue and WD40 (someone recommended it once), but they spin. I think the heatting elements damage the glue....

Any recomendation what glue I could use, that would be temperature resistant ?

    Thanks,

  4. You do know that the US decalls and the Canadian decals are different, right ?

Not only is the "writting" different, but also, for some reason, the "background of the stickers matches closer on the Canadian bikes than on the US bikes. That's definatelly the case on the red bikes...

The US "CBR" sticker doesn't say "1100 SUPER BLACBIRD" on it....

What color is your bike ?

The '03 in US would be for the black bike, with "PGM-I" in dark gray color. That would separate it from the '99 decal, that had the "PGM-I" in red....

But I think there are three colors in Canada for '03, correct ? Or maybe just two....

    Try these people.....

BTW, I got f#@$ed by two Ontario dealers so double check the color and part numbers.

And they were cheaper in Canada....

Honda Direct Line can be cheaper than Ron Ayers as well.

    Good luck !

  5. Well..... the bike runs and it's charging, thanks to the new stator.

14.7 V while riding around the block.

tomek dropped by, we chated, scrobbed the old gasket, applied the new one (thanks to Joe ! THANK YOU JOE !) and when I plugged everything - there was the light !

Putting the bike back together took a while....

Why is it eassier to disasamble it ?

    ......

  6. This thread almost looks like I'm talking to myself.....

I wonder if this could by my problem......

    Large images in my gallery....

Do you think I should SELL IT ?!

Do you think IT'S CUPPED ?

Any recomendation what gasket seal I should use ? Can I just get it in the auto parts store ?

I asked Tim and he said yes, but he is a roofer - what does he know about engines....

The parts guy at the HONDA dealer told my GF I didn't need any sealant !

    ...so she didn't buy it.....

    ........

  7. The '97-'99 color was the same but the stickers changed in '99, so the part numbers here in US are different. Also the upper fairing has different attachments for the ram air or the cooling ducts - depending whether it's the carbed or FI model....

Your European stickers are different anyway.

The '03 black color has more metal flake in the paint....

    ........

  8. Ok, few days later, I know few more things, but I still have not fixed the problem....

I went with my R/R to Tim (redbird) yesterday. Didn't ride the bike because I didn't feel like pushing it !

Anywho, my R/R works fine on his bike ! The voltage rose with RPM's although it reached 14.9V at 5K RPM's not 15.5.....

I used Tim's meter and checked all the points the manual suggests.

My continuity on the stator is 0.2 mA across all 3 terminals. There is no continuity between either of the alternator wires and the ground.

The voltage on the battery is 12.7V and not rising with RPM's, dropping to 12.02 V when engine running (headlight disconnected).....

There is the same 0.2 mA continuity between green and ground, on the R/R plug.

I have the same voltage at the R/R plug as at the battery.

The only out of specs test that I can find is the leak test.

When tested at the battery, I have 0.56 mA and the max should be 0.2mA....

I unpluged all my accessories and removed their fuses just to be sure and there was no change.

The manual suggests unplugging the circuits one by one. I assume that can be done at the fuse box ?

I did that, and the only difference is when I remove the "clock" fuse....

The meter shows "0.0" as oppose to the 0.56.......

    I'm very confused.

My accessories and mods are attached to different circuits, not the clock one....

I think Stretch replaced the stator, even though it "tested" okay. Has anyone else ?

I don't want to spend $150 unless I have to.....

    Any ideas ?

    Cheers,

P.S. BTW, the '99 R/R plugs right up to the '01 XX. I imaggine it's the same the other way around....
