Here is a list of oil filters that will fit on the 97-01 Birds. It came from http://www.micapeak.com/bike/ST1300/FilterXRef.html
These motorcycles all use the same spin-on filters with 20 x 1.5mm threads, 14 psi by-pass valve, anti-drain back valve, gasket diameter approximately 2.3 inches, O.D. approximately 2.75 inches, length approximately 2.5 to 3.5 inches. If your bike has a lot of room around the oil filter, I suggest the longer models.
Motorcycle-Specific Filters.
· AC Delco PF2135 about $10.
· AMSOil SMF103, about $9.
· FRAM PH6017A about $7.
· Honda 15410-MCJ-000, about $12.
· K&N KN-204, about $13. Has a metric nut on the end for easy removal.
· NAPA Gold 1358, Carquest 85358, WIX 51358 about $7 to $8.
· Purolator Motorcycle ML16817 about $6. Imported, not made by Purolator.
· STP SMO 07, about $7.
Automobile Filters, about 2.5 inches long
· Mobil M1-108, about $12.
· Purolator Pure One PL14612 about $6.
· Bosch 3300 about $6. About 64mm, doesn't quite fit oil filter wrenches. A real pain.
· WalMart SuperTech ST6607 about $2. Made by Champion.
· AC Delco PF1237 about $6.
· NAPA Gold 1365 about $6.
· Purolator L14622 about $4.
· STP S-02876 about $3.
· Baldwin B1400.
· Hastings LF113.

Well I ended up getting screwed. The guy didn't respond so I took my chances, submitted a low bid, won and received a 900RR shock MAS-003. Crap, totally useless. I'm too damn impatient when it comes to buying bike parts.

Clunk?
in The Garage
I'm having the same symptom over rough pavement (or on my gravel driveway). The bike has 24,000 miles and I don't think the previous owner had the forks apart. I'm planning on tearing them down in the coming weeks and will be sure to post any improvements.

I've been bidding on some of these and trying to ask for part numbers ahead of time. Man...some of these sellers respond slowly. Can anyone tell me if the 92-95 shocks change at all? Some descriptions say they'll fit 92-99 but the difference (besides length) is the way the hose attaches to the reservoir. On one, it comes out of the shock at a 90 degree angle and straight into the reservoir and on the other it is reversed, straight out of the shock and into the reservoir at a 90 degree angle. I'm confused...

matey_peeps, thanks for the welcome. Didn't I just see you over in STN? Anyway, my ZX6 did this but I've had others that didn't. I think I recall an oil change made a real difference. I'll try that.

Hey all,
I'm new to the BB and have noticed a really firm 'clunk' when I shift into first at a stand-still. The bike seems to jump forward as the gear falls into place. Is there an adjustment for this? Do I need an oil change?
Any thoughts appreciated! Gracias.

Hey all,
I'm new to the board so don't scream too loud if this is a re-post. I'm wondering what options there are for aftermarket pipes. Is there anything special I need to do to convert to a single pipe? Does it hamper power or performance? I've seen some pictures of both systems and the single pipe appeals to me just because I think it'll cost less to buy one than two. I've got a '97 that is totally stock.
Thanks for listening...
Got Spools?
in The Garage
Posted
I've looked and looked and I just want someone to confirm. I can't put spools on my swingarm can I? I bought some roller feet for my stands but the bike slowly slides off. I know I can use the center stand but good bike stands always feel more stable. Anyone encountered a solution to this problem?
