  1. post-74142-1347667111.jpgmoney is tight and i am considering options, this ad is just a feeler to see if there is any interest. possibly for sale is a no excuses no issues 97 xx, fresh service about 4 miles ago, air, oil, chain and plugs. joe and the others saw this bike in PA 2 years ago at nexxt and i am hoping they can vouch for the pristine condition. original paint and plastics, she has seen rain maybe 3 time in her life. that said there is a small scuff on the lower right fairing, you cannot see it until i point it out to you or in the perfect light. i do not want to part with it but have to see if there is interest. i WILL not part out this bike unless someone wants it in stock form, price reflects condition of bike and all options, yes it is just an old xx but i betcha' you cannot find a nicer one :icon_whistle:

  4. Id have to agree that the cam chain tensioner sounds like the culprit. The clutch on the bike stock is relatively quite, if you put in an aftermarket clutch or for some reason when you replaced the clutch with stop places there is a jutter ring and spring plate in there behind the last plate that reduces clutch noise. If these are removed the clutch is slightly noisier.

i am not so sure about the cct, but it may be i guess, i put a new honda lifter in about a year ago,, clutch engaged unloading the cc,, disengaged spinning the tranny,, i suppose its possible, its the harmonic noise and the noise on the coast side of the gears that has me iffy,, i guess i dont want to start throwing parts at it

thnks for the input,,cct is starting to mak sense,,, if that is the case, apparently the honda upgrde sucks, any sugestions?

  5. Cam chain tensioner is very problematic and makes a sound like you describe....easy, cheap fix

Clutch basket, especially on carbed bikes makes a racket on some too...

This lessens as the motor warms up and idle speed comes up....

Seems to be less noisy on FI bikes as the Fi automatically controls idle speed during warn up

By mentioning the clutch lever decreasing the noise, it sounds like the clutch basket...

I don't know that its worth fixing...

Mine is noisy as hell but functions perfectly.

cct done soon after i bought the bike, not cct noise, noise is only present when warmed up, i would agree on the basket at idle, but the harmonic noise at speed and deffinate off throttle in gear coming to a stop (3-4k @ 20mph),,sounds like tire noise but is not, if i pull clutch lever in all noise stops,, if it were the beemer i would pass go and go directly to a bearing,,any weak ones in the xx??

    thanks

  6. hello all, xx is my first i4 bike with shared motor/tranny oil(came from bmw boxers), so i am pretty certain i have an issue starting to surface, 97 bird, at idle tranny is getting loud(louder than it used to be) clutch lever in no noise, lever out you can hear everthing spinning with chatter/small bag of marbles, not a big bag yet. if it were one of the boxers i could start to point fingers at what is failing, not the bird, i dont know enough about it/never had an issue. so what do you think.

    thanks for looking,

    brian

  7. hello all, have a nice leo vince sbk titanium slip on system with all mounting hardware, i would give it a solid 9 out of 10, two small scratches on right can, no dents and no discoloring. for a 97' bird, do not really need to sell so make me an offer of $$ or cool shit for a carbed bird! will go take some pics if any one is interested.

    thanks,

    brian

  8. hey all, i have run searches and to no avail, i must now ask. i just bought a 900rr rear shock from a member on this board and was wondering, i am 210lbs and usually carry 30ish lbs including bags, will the current spring(on the rr shock) be ok or do i need to swap it out with the oem spring or just buy a heavier one. and are there any suggestions on who to buy it from or is the rr shock that much better or should i just leave it alone, bike has only 20k on it and there are no issues with the current setup. i preffer the ride a little on the stiff side, thank you in advance!

  10. Big Red does some towing for the company i work for, Byrne Dairy. I usually deal with Ron when i call.

yup, rons the boss, being on the transport side of things i do not deal with much towing, unless it will go on the landoll, i figured you might be a customer by recognizing the trucks in a little avatar, we should put a ride on this spring, cheers

  11. Mr Happy, do you work for Big Red's? We will have to get all the area birds together in spring and take some rides.

yes sir, i do, i do the heavy and specialty haul side of the buissiness. i run the heavy haul tractor and low boy or the landoll trailer and if the boss is out of town i get to play with the rotator. we should deffinately loosely put something together for spring. my # is in the op, give me a shout and we can work on it :icon_evilgrin:
