  1. Take a good look at the cylinder head, where the cams run. That's another area that doesn't like metal particles, if any got through. Hank
  2. Don't know how big your spare parts pile is, but I have a carbed parts motor from a wreck. Lower crankcase is broken from the impact with a curb but it supposedly only has 6500 miles on it. Lemme know if you have any interest...Hank
  3. Thanks Mack...get in touch when you get into town...Hank
  4. Get in touch with Rick at Cogent Dynamics... He is a very clever guy with years of experience.. I've seen him rebuild "non rebuildable" shocks before. He will give you good advice and service at more than fair prices. IIRC, Race Tech offers a Gold Valve for that shock. If so, it must be rebuildable. BTW, Cogent Dynamics was just named the largest Race Tech center in the world. Rick has both a "shock clock" for real world, on bike, testing and a new shock dyno for in house testing of shocks and forks. Tell him you're a member here... Hank
  5. Perfect execution. Its in gods hands now... But He had a lot of help by a mortal named Joe...
  6. "When I turn the front end, I hear/feel a vibration, some kind of harmonics. This happens when I'm standing still and rolling slowly." Tim, can you explain this further? I'm gonna guess if you find whats going on here, you'll solve your problem. Hank
  7. Scott, thanks for getting back to me so fast. Looks like a huge variety and awesome pricing... Gotta do some research.. Hank
  8. Kinda curious... Care to PM me whats available and what list, cost, and the 20% off price is? Thanks, Hank
  9. Hey Cutie... Lemme know if Pop needs someone else to drink some beer with... Might have a look at the frame for ya too... I still owe ya one... Hank
  10. The marine industry has similar problems and a company developed a line of products geared towards fuels with ethanol by the name of Starbrite or Startron. Worked for me...Hank
  11. We had a ride planned with some forum members and passed there twice; once heading north towards the Cedar Rapids Inn for lunch and then returning a couple hour's later. ZX14, an MV Augusta, and 3 or 4 BB's riding together. Nope, no clip ons here. I love my LSL Handlebar setup with the Buell foot pegs... I had a failure with the top clamp and only got on the road due to Joe's generous loan of an FI clamp, but they are different in the ignition switch area. Hank
  12. Overall finish is unimportant, but it has to be straight... Need one for my bike from a carbed BB... Please let me know... Hank
  13. As the pool of really low mileage Blackbirds shrinks, the prices go up and rightly so. Sure can't go to Honda for a new one...
  14. I've got 18F and 45R and my speedo is bang on, but my odometer is 7% low now. I have a custom made map and can do about 180 Miles(corrected) if traveling 75-85MPH on the highway before the my gauge starts blinking(equiv of the low fuel light) So a fuel mileage calc. would require adding 7% to the miles traveled first, eh? Good to know...Thanks
  15. I believe the gearing change puts the speedo pretty damn close on my bike. No GPS to be sure...
  16. If I top the tank off, I get 100 miles till the needle hits full: 150 miles and the needle hits 1/2, and right around 195 the light comes on at the red zone..I have hit 200 till red light too. IIRC, the furthest I've ridden till fill up was 215. This is with 18-44 gearing...Hank
  17. I have a set of stock Suzuki Bandit 1200 fork springs for you to try. Diameter is the same, length is longer and they are dual rate. Stock Bandits don't ride bad at all...might be heaven for ya.. You will have to adjust preload with new spacers and go from there. FYI...stock rear spring for a BB is 950 lbs. I have one from a Bandit also, but don't know the weight. Pay the shipping if interested. Hank
  18. Loosen the other bolts on the link plate...goes right in. You're gonna love it. Hank
  19. Yup...that one for $7000. was an 07 with 3000 miles...not ridden hard at all. Original owner, etc. My buddy at the shop has an 06 for sale too...probably be bought for low $6's. Lemme know if you need contact info. Hank
  20. So why do you think Honda called them Blackbirds? Not TitaniumBirds... Not Silverbirds... Not Redbirds... Blackbirds...plain and simple Good luck with the sale... and another bump... Hank
  21. The front section is on hold pending payment from James (NoOne65). Would the stock mufflers be of any help? Hank
