  1. The resistance is too low to get an accurate measurement, whoever said 3 to 6 does not understand this.

    #### the .pdf document above states that if the resistance is either higher or lower than 3 to 6 ohms, then the stator is bad. so, this document must be a little too general

It is most likely that the ohmmeter leads have far greater resistance than the stator, and it is not easy for the meter to measure the very small voltage that results from such a low ohmic measurement. Just because the meter scale reads to zero does not mean it is accurate at that reading.

    #### i am using a $200 digital multimeter that i use in my research at where i work (SIUE), this meter is easily capable of measuring resistance values less than 1 ohm with good certainty

The stator is wound with what appears to be 16 gauge wire, the resistance is about 4 ohms per 1000 ft of wire for this gauge. There is NOT anywhere near 1000 ft of wire per winding. In any practical sense the coil resistance is not measurable, unless you have a four terminal meter and know how to make a bridge measurement.

    #### i just got off the phone with the local Honda dealer, the service guy pulled the tech manual, he said that the 2000 XX should have between 0.1 and 1.0 ohms across any two pair of coil wires

    thanks for responding

  2. okay, my voltages are about where they need to be, however, the resistance values between the stator wires is real low

between any two pair of wires was 0.30 ohms and NOT 3.0 to 6.0 ohms

    suggestions

  3. question: i have a 2000 xx with 16.5k and i am having a charging problem. i replaced my battery 1.5 years ago and it still tests good.

when i put a DVM across my battery post i get 12.9V, i start the bike and it drops to 12.2 and just sits there regardless of throttle position.

i suspect it is the R/R

as a check, i unplugged the 3 yellow wired harness from the R/R and started the bike again, i put my DVM on VAC and measured the raw output from the stator coils.

is there anyone who has a 2000 xx that is charging fine with OEM equipment and who knows what these output voltages should be??

    i checked them @ idle, @ 2500 and @ 5000 rpm.

between any two of coils gave me consistant values with the other pairs, however, i would like to know if they are consistantly good or bad.

    your thoughts

  4. Uh, what would that offer you? If you had your "low beams" on during the day, you'd burn the retinas out of everyone in front of you. That just wouldn't be

I've only got one HID right now. It's in the top, with the low connected (as per normal operation). So I've got my HID on all the time. It's been 3 years with no problem.

so having the HID in the top socket but connected to the "low" switch is less blinding than the HID in the bottom socket and connected to the "low" switch??

  5. since it is widely known that the low beam is in the high socket and the high beam is in the low socket, if you were going to install only one HID would it make more sense to install it in the lower socket w/ the low beam power to it??

  6. all i can think of, was back in '03 i had my wire harness replaced by HONDA (FI light).

so, it must have been them who switched these connectors, for i have never touched them before

    headlight fluid??

  7. bike is 2000 XX

yesterday my wife and i went on a short ride. here in the midwest it was 102

the bike ran just fine on the highway @ 65-70mph

when we got into town and the cooling fan started to run, after 10 minutes or so the speedometer and tach needles jumped up and down a few times and then stopped at zero when the bike was still running.

turn signals and headlights were very dim

when we got to where we were going, i shut the bike off and tried to restart only to learn that the battery was all but dead. (the battery is oem and 1.5 months old)

after 4 to 5 hours, the bike had cooled off, hit the starter and it had enough juice to start the bike and it ran fine...gauges worked properly

shut it off, it started right back up

as i reved the engine, the headlights would get brighter

    my conclusion is that:

the battery is fine (it came back up in charge)

and that the charging system is charging

so perhaps it is just a loose connection...i checked the ones i could reach without taking the bike apart

i wonder what was going on

does anyone have any insight as to what is going on with my bike

    please advise and thank you

  8. hey,

sorry i didn't read this earlier

i have a perfect right side engine cover that i will sell you cheaper than what you are getting it for at the dealer.

my left side cover got scratched up on my 2000 XX, so i replaced both of the titanium colored covers with that of a 97 (shiny black). fit perfectly and made the bike look better.

anywho, if you want cancel your order and let me know what you would be whilling to pay for it. you will need the gasket for it though

    let me know

  9. www.speedohealer.com

it is a small device that allows you to correct your speedometer's reading to a more true value. you can correct for the factory offset as well as when you change gear ratios

    neat little device

  10. xxtraspec99 your statement is very true, however i believe that PACE came to the 16% because of the new 6% difference when changing gear ratios plus the 10% factory error.

he seems to know what he is talking about at other times.

(the 0.16 difference and the 16% are just co-inky dinks)

pace, please post some more information per which model you have

    thank you

  11. then why on the powercommand site do they have a map that is stock bike w/ modified ignition timing (93 octane or higher)?

i use 93 octane right now

surely there must be some sort of benefit from adjusting the timing?

  12. has onyone tried or has had success with an electronic cruise control on their Dos X??

i have a modified universal vista cruise on mine now. it works okay, sometimes it is tough to get it set at some sorta constant throttle position. but it would be great to get a true cruise control (i.e. constant speed as apposed to constant throttle position)

    please advise

  13. i am looking for opinions per the best slipons for my '00 XX

the bike is the metalic Ti in color.

i like a deep throaty sound with good performance increase.

i am very ignorant to these so please help educate me

    thanks in advance
