  1. And all those other bikes have at least been USED and MAINTAINED since being bought.

While this bike's been garage-kept, it's hardly been ridden (fine for 3-years-old, bad for 12-years-old) and no maintenance other than ONE oil change two years ago.

You know you'll need two new tires off the top...probably change upper and lower coolant hoses to be safe (possibly radiator cap as well) because of aging rubber. New battery...easy.

If the guy had at least changed fluids every 2-3 years, I'd say I'd just be looking to discount for the old tires, but he's really done nothing but ONE oil change. Hell, at not even 2,000 miles in 12 years, it doesn't even look like the motor was properly broken in (although it's young enough that it could be corrected with no long-term harm done).

Once he started riding the bike, he should have at least kept up the maintenance every couple of years. He's letting certain parts deteriorate from neglect, and you all know you'd have to spend $$$ as soon as you got it to bring some things current or risk them failing at any time. That affects the price...period.

Just ran the VIN....first registered in 2006...so that helps.

    You need to buy new.
  2. My '01 is exhibiting the classic signs of the test connector failure. On several occasions I thought I'd found and fixed the problem by cleaning/repairing different stuff but the fault came back recently. I've also found conflicting into on where the test connector is and how many & what color wires it has so I can know for sure that I'm addressing the test connector and not something else. My understanding is that '01+ models have the test connector as well but that it was modified to be less fail prone. -?-

Don't hesitate to so the fix if you think it could be an issue. 30 mins is all it takes..or less.

  3. Well, my idea is to get whomever is responsible to be the recipient of the text/e-mail alert so they can come in and reset the system rather than let it sit until Monday morning.

That is the person that needs to corridinate the fixing of this.

    Concentrate on your day job.

  4. So now you're going to respond to text alerts when the temp is too high/low in your office? Are you the new hvac guy?

Call someone. There are lots of guys in the south that do this for a living.

Even if it costs 2000 bucks to fix, the payback will be very quick on energy savings. It costs a ton to get an office frigid in the middle of the summer.

  5. I have Allen sockets, but couldn't source one long enough to reach. I was afraid to use the longer ball end type.

You should be afraid. They snap off.

Go to napa. For 10 bucks you could get a longer allen socket.

  6. Almost put a permanent twist in this trying to break the bolt loose.

Moving on to my homemade impact bit in the morning. I've got a feeling I'll be drilling it out before it's over.

You will strip the shit out of it with that tool. They flex way too much.

I know a tool maker that will remove those from our shop floor because he ends up fixing all the damage those cause. Light duty only.

Get an Allen socket that looks like this.
