  1. Raise the tank, on the right side of the fuel rail is a rubber line going to the tank. NOT THAT ONE!!!! But , there is another that is a vacumn line. If gas runs out that, BAD FUEL PRESSURE REGULATOR. Mr turbo best one but more expensive.

Make sure that the plug on the aircleaner is hooked up Air temp sensor, will make it run rich and fowl the plugs.

Thanks CBRXXQUAD. I'll check those 2 things first, and let everyone know what I find out.

So what did you find out?

  2. This thread has my undivided attention!

Thanks for the dyno explanation too Rode.

    Thanks as well from me.

Untill I read his explanation on the differences in Dyno's....I just assumed that the Dyno-Jet was the way to go.

I may have to take another look at what method/dyno I am going to use to get my bird tuned.....

  3. Buddy and I bought an H7 kit for a car. They are 5700's. We split the pair, and to make a long story short, it cost me 120CAD (90USD) to install a HID on each bird.

They had the seperate balasts, the wires were a little long so we cut them down by about 4", and installed the igniters on the flat black plastic piece below the headlights on the nose of the bird.....so far so good.

  4. I have a 97 XX with 50K miles on it, but it's still relatively new to me. Anyhow, for the bike to rest on the kickstand it leans over really far. Too far IMO. Honestly, it makes me uneasy whenever I rest the bike on the kickstand. Here's what I think are the causes:

    1. Rear/Front spring preload (aka ride height). On the rear spring the adjusting collars are in the middle of the range. At the front, perhaps the forks are extended too far. When I rebuilt the forks with Racetech 1.0kg springs and valves, I cut the spacers so that the springs have to be compressed 20mm to screw the caps in. Reducing the front/rear preload should lower the bike, which in turn should reduce the lean angle to rest on the kickstand, correct? I'll check the front/rear SAG before making any adjustments.

    2. Kick stand play. When the kick stand is extended (bike on centerstand) the end of the kickstand has about a 1/2" of side to side play. I know there will be some play. Is a 1/2" too much? I don't think the lug or kickstand are bent. Although the kickstand might have a very slight curve in it.

Penny for your thoughts? What else might cause too much lean for the bike to rest on the kickstand?

OK, how about the bolt where the kickstand attaches to the bike? Is the hole rounded, or is the shoulder of the bolt where the KS rides worn out.....

I had one a few years back, same thing. I changed out the shouldered thru bolt and the KS tightened right up again.

    Just my .02

  5. This morning I went for a brisk ride, and noticed water flooding out the lower right side of the fairing...

Trailered the bike home and diagnosed the problem as a blown water pump seal. Opened the water pump up and found that 4 of the blades on the impellor are GONE. Missing... not there at all.

Anyone ever had a water pump impellor disintegrate like this before?

No, I haven't............................but I'd be more worried where the missing blades went !!!!!!!!!!!

Were the remaining blades rusty or damaged??

They were lying loose in the pump housing... the pump rotates freely, just the seal failed due to chunks of metal scratching against it

(assuming again because there are score marks around the seal area) - if the seal hadn't been damaged I may never have noticed, I guess.

A new waterpump is quoted by the local Honda stealership at US$480 - how close is this to reality in the USA or UK? We get assraped by the manufacturers in South Africa as far as spares costs go. Might consider bringing one in if the costs are gonna be worthwhile.

    E bay E bay E bay..................

  6. Two issues.

1....your average shop isn't going to have the equipment to do it.

2....there's not a lot of meat to shave off.

If they are bent, you can't fix them by turning them. Its the carrier that's most likely bent, not the rotor. It is possible to straighten them...sometimes.

If they are only slightly grooved, you might be able to repair them. Still, expect to pay at least $100 once you find someone to do it.

I hope you find otherwise. If you do, let us know!

+1 put the new one's on and forget about it....

  7. Has anyone installed the APE manual adjuster and been done with the rubber band? Long term experience? I am about to replace mine and would like some insight from the members. My competition background says go with the APE and make regular adjustment a maintenance item.

    Mr. Hemi.

Just popped in an APE 2 weeks ago.

    So here's my advice....

The stock unit blows dead goats, but, they are cheap and easy to install.

The Ape units will last the life of the bike, are cheap, easy to install, but are hell to initially adjust.(if anyone tells you different their fucking lying to ya, or don't give a fuck if it's adj correctly , or don't have a clue what their talking about)

    Up to you :icon_whistle:

  8. The bike is geared for top speed from the factory, with the stock or slightly more than stock power level. The bike was Honda's "top speed" bike. Why would they restrict the top speed with gearing? Especially when the direction you're talking about going will yield longer engine life and better gas mileage?

and Yes, this is the same answer as on the "premier" XX forum on this question...

  9. Is there any way to up the horsepower of a small 125cc scooter... ie punch the stock exhaust "blackbird style?"

air filter swap or drill out... ??

    Any help would be great...

I have seen a few small engines that the factory uses different sized carbs on them to change the horse power output.

When I worked in the Marine business ,that was the case on a few of the Evinrude and Mercury outboard motors. Seen it on lawn equipment as well.

Check out the next model up, maybe a simple carb swap will next you a horse or two ... :icon_think:

  10. The holes in the mounting bracker are farther apart than conventional mirrors. As far as I know, there are no aftermarket mirrors for the XX.

You could do as I did and tint the turn signals so the bright yellow lens is not standing out so much. Your bike is black from the looks of the pic in the avitar.

Heres a shot of mine from the front.

    IPB Image

Where was this pic taken....nice road

  11. If you don't buy the block off plates, what caps work well for blocking off the stock reed valve openings and airbox openings? Also, where can you get the caps?

I know for the ZX-12r a handlebar end plug off of a bicycle sealed up the airbox hole perfectly :icon_biggrin:

Eric I got mine from RedJ look on the for sale/ wanted page I don't know if he has any left. You can also search for pair blockoff I did find a setup on the web but can't remember where. The same setup setup fits the RR1000& 600 and a couple of other honda bikes

Look on Ebay TPO Honda CBR 1100XX Emissions removal blockoff kit Item number: 300054363454
