  1. I have no direct experience, but I had always heard that aftermarket R/R and generator parts were junk... like more junk than the stock Honda parts...

But I thought because the price difference was so big I would try the electro sport.

It crapped out in a month.

At the same time this was happening to me the used 600F2 we bought my wife also had charging trouble.

We bought from a good dealer who took it in to fix. They put on an electro sport R/R and it also smoked in about 2 weeks.

I have switched both bikes to the R1 R/R and no problems since.

I had Mike (bartonmd) set me up with adapter plugs so I can unplug everything and go back to stock if I ever want.

I used a r1, just moved the pins around in the stock connector. I've heard bad things about the aftermarket R/R too, very happy with the R! unit, and it was cheap about $65 if i remeber right, did it at the end of summer last year and no issues through about 5k miles.

almost forgot, If you contact University Motors in Fargo ND and ask for Mike Barth, tell him your from this board and you get great pricing.

  2. Thanks for the reply. I'll mark that pin and watch it.

You could just replace that link too. With new o rings.

I love my RK chain tool. I can do anything with it.

As I read this I thought the same thing.

If you have a chain tool, just get a new master link with new o-rings and replace.

  4. Put 5wt in mine. I too noticed a little extra noise, but after a couple hundred miles I have either gotten used to it, or it has subsided. Course, I stayed w/stock parts (except for oil and seals.). Keep us updated, cuz I think this is an issue a lot of us has noticed. At least you aint hearing a scraping sound. I remember reading a few posts related to that too. My only complaint about the bird "why didn't Honda use good suspension parts?!! :icon_wall:

According to a Showa suspension guy I talked to, the XX has good forks just poor adjustment ability.

Once you dial them in for your size/weight/riding style they are good.

Of coarse this is one mans opinion.

  5. Is it definitely a "sucking" sound as when I installed some Sonic springs a few months back I had a scraping sound coming from them under compression and return which went away eventually :icon_confused:

I guess they are just a little rough and need smoothing out :icon_confused:

Another guy I know had a similar sound as well and that went away as well :icon_surprised:

I did notice a slight metal sliding sound when assembling the forks so maybe thing just need to "break in"

The directions from Race tech said never have a spacer directly against a fork cap without a washer in between.

There was no washer on top of the spacer when I took it apart and now there is.

I don't think I am doing any damage so I guess I will live with it a bit and see how it goes.

On the plus side, I am getting fast at pulling fork legs.

  6. I just installed new Race tech springs and change the fork oil (5wt).

Now I have a sucking sound when the suspension rebounds.

I checked the fork oil level and it was low a little. So I corrected the level but it still does it if compressed enough.

I may have not primed the dampers enough at first but with a test ride & fluid top off I should be good.... No

    Is this normal?

  7. IMHO, I would bet you replaced the bad rotor with a almost bad rotor.

I would replace both with EBC pro-lites, cause that's exactly what I did when my rotors got noisy :icon_biggrin:

The EBC's are less expensive than the stock Honda. They are also lighter(not that you can really feel it).

I would bet if you called Mike Barth @ University motors in Fargo ND and told him you are a member here he might get you a great price.

  8. Here I am, spouting sacriledge again.

I had a click sound when braking, thought it was kinda weird. I just pulled the triple tree apart, packed the bearings and put it back together. This was just over 30K and I am over 51K now, no issues.

I'm a cheap lazy bastard with lots of grease, oil and cleaning solutions in my garage and a girlfriend I send home when I wanna get dirty.

You went through the hassle of taking the whole front end apart just to grease the bearing?

You are a cheap one, the ALL BALLS tapered head bearing are like $35 bux!

  9. Stuck at 208-210.

The first 2 weeks of May, crazy crazy schedule, hard to stay focused. No excuses, it's just life.

Second two weeks, took a look at my nutrition, RDA and stuff, was much more interested in seeing where I was with that. Also, found my blood pressure was trending a little high (145/90) so I did a little research. Began introducing flaxseed oil into my diet. Trying to find a stable base with the added oil calories that still moves down.

Flaxseed oil benefit? Lower bp (131/83 average) healthier skin, less overall aching from joints and back.

Making adjustments to my current diet and moving to a more raw food based diet, at least trying more veggies for now, with a gradual move to more raw ones. Of course I am blowing it out of the water this weekend, just bought a 5 pound pork butt, wondering how best to smoke it... or at least which end to light.

Boiled Rutabaga chunks in the fridge make a pretty good snack food.

Hehehehehehe He said smoked butt :icon_twisted:

J/K keep up the good work. I lost a little (10 lbs)

  10. Update! I haved been sticking with this, and am proud to report I've lost a total of 70 lbs!! :icon_dance: :icon_clap: I also broke the 300lb barrier! For the first time in probably 8 years my weight does not start with a 3!!!!! I think I need a new bike reward or something!! :icon_biggrin:

WOW Wes that's great keep it up!!!!!

I am up 1.5 HP in the last month too :icon_biggrin:

  11. My last house in New York used to ice up BAD. To the point that the ice would melt and creep into the bay window. I sold that fucking house and moved to Arizona, my new house NEVER has that problem.

Then put a cactus in your avatar instead of a New York logo :icon_twisted:

    Thanks

  12. I don't know the #.

I do know if you remove them and go to a bearing shop they can match them up.

Even small town bearing shops will have them (don't ask how I know).

If your having trouble removing them, go to Auto Zone and they "borrow" blind bearing pullers.

You have to buy the tool but they refund they whole amount when you return it.

  13. What are you using to monitor voltage?

I used my 8500 detector for a voltage monitor, but I hear they are usually incorrect. It usually ran around 13.7 to 14.1 on the FJR, but it would jump around all the time. I figured if it didn't drop dramatically things were working ok.

I have a Datel volt meter.

Is it as GAY as Daves one? :icon_evilgrin::icon_whistle:

No, he has the gay blue. I have the hot red! :icon_evilgrin:
