  1. Keith, I don't think I'd do it.  You'd be way too stiff on the rebound for the stock springs, so the forks would pump down and screw up the geometry over a sequence of bumps, possibly bottom out in a turn (which would really fuck you up).  I'd keep the stock oil with the stock springs.

SwampNut, I just serviced my front forks. (Removed, Disasembled, Cleaned, Inspected) I went to the honda dealer and asked for the correct fork fluid and they gave me 10w fork oil. I ride tomorrow. I found out later that the book calls for SS 8w oil. What should I look out for. Am I going to have problems? Thanks for helping in advance.

  2. Leave your teeth alone.  La Chomper is running stock chain and sprockets and I followed him all over the Dragon and the Cherahola Skyway at the Hoot, that is except when I went Off Roading myself for a while. :-)

And D2 slowed up and Watched and didn't even follow along. Guess he doesnt have the off road contol I did that day.  I didn't go down but decided I need a new suspension system for my next off road adventure.

Hey John, good to see you on line. After the hoot, I did change my chain and sprockets. I have gone over 300 miles on only one tank of gas :!: I did that on the way to the 2003 NEXXT. The boys still can't believe it's possible :!: While doing the tour, I never gased up! Others have 2,3, or 4 times :!:

  3. BT57 - 3300 miles

    BT010 - 1800 miles

    D207 - 1700 miles

    BT56SS - 3600 miles

Sounds like low air. Maybe side drag caused by alignment concerns, or a little of both. I got my worst mileage this past week-end with the BT 57's.

9027 miles on the rear and 11,337 on the front. My last set went over 15K on the front and over 12K on the rear. The 57's love hi air pressures. 45-46 PSI front and rear cold. I just went over 36K on the bike.

  4. No offense anyone...I don't like the avons at all.  I have 3Kon them and very little tread left.  I am actually not riding alot because I don't want to have to change them before the nexxt...So I won't be doing Avon again.

Mabey they just aren't right for my riding style.

SO BT it is....do they still make the 57's ????  If not I will give the Sport Touring BT20's.

Thanks guys...I appreciate the quick feedback.  I am going to order them from the tire place everyone recommends !

    Dave

Dave, you old fucker, How are you? They still make the BT 57's. The 20's are softer, but don't last as long as the 57's. I got 10k on the front and 8k on the rear and they are still going strong. And you know I run high pressures and still hang in the corners  I've got the same tires that I had at the Hoot. Go with the BT 57's. They ARE MADE for the XX :!:

  5. First of all Dave, how do you know that a sixteen year old has a tight snatch??? Maybe I don't really want to know.

Secondly, if Redbird is right about it being able to spin freely up you ass, I thinking that maybe I should bring the video camera to the Hoot, as well as the digital camera. Streaming video........yeah, that's the ticket.

    :bigpuke:

    Bring plenty of tape :!:
