  1. All I can say is HOLY SHIT! Im exhausted. The pool came as planned, but the truck refused to drive down the drive. We knew we had enough room, and I had 6 guys that could have jumped in and drove it down, but the truck driver refused. So that meant that we would have to do 3 crane moves before it even ended up in the back yard, and that it would have to be craned over my house....here are some pics. Truck pulling up to the house Truck getting ready for the first crane Had to crane it between the maple and pine, we didnt know at this time, but the maple knocked the pin out of the hook on the crane, so the pool could have fell. trying to pull it through the tree branches. Pool over the house....still didnt know the pin was missing at this time. Tight sqeeze,,,,have to set it down to move the crane again. The missing was noticed before this crane move....Butchy, our friend thought that jamming a stick in its place would work for now, till my husband saw what he was doing and ran and got a nail. Flipping the tub spinning it around Setting it in the hole. Done....almost Now to backfill, fill the pool, run the plumbing, run the electric, concrete around the pool, and install the aluminum fence...... :?
  2. The crane is here! Just an hour to wait for the pool
  3. Roflmao.... Well it is the season for sweet corn.
  4. Im glad you like my big brown hole. Yes, I have gold in my hole...dont tell everyone or they will all want to dig in my hole. 8-[ I have sand in my hole now. Pool gets here thursday....God I hope it doesnt rain. :?
  5. Thanks Nik. Actually the maple would have been in the way...the pool sits on that spot where it once stood, I would have moved it over to the other side more, but we had underground buried electric for the new garage and I couldnt. The maple also drops thousands of helecopters every spring, it wouldnt have been good to have that over the pool. The pine we were going to keep....I wanted it for the shade, so we limbed it up to see how that would look....it was crooked and I didnt like it. After stringing up the pool layout we realized that the grade of the yard was going to change and we were going to have to raise that area 3 feet and add a retaining wall, so down it came. I am planting some new "pool friendly" trees around that area after the construction is complete, for some added shade. My lot has all mature trees....so there are many more around the whole perimeter of the yard. In fact I have 5 pines as big as the one we took down in the front yard! It used to be 7 pines, but we cut down 2 when we bought the house.
  6. Pool has been ordered and will arrive on August 17th. First is to get rid of the trees in the way....a 40 year old maple and pine.... My son Daniel in front of the pine.. Daniel in front of the maple. Proposed spot where the pool is going. My friend Marcus, cutting down the maple. Trees will be down this weekend....hole will be dug next week. Will post more pics soon.
  7. I went for a more robust molding around my patio door. I didnt like how the traditional molding looked at all. No need to miter, it butts up to the rosettes and plinth block. Plinth block Rosettes These are wood, which I painted.
  8. Well its been decided. Im getting the Pacific... Its perfect size...16x40 with an eight foot depth. Next step is to cut down a 40 year old maple and a 40 year old pine.
  9. Bwahahaha!!!!!!!!!!! You sound like my neighbor... I plant shit in 4's just to piss them off! And Im leaving the dead apple tree up, just because I can. Im thinking about importing some cars on blocks next.    How you like them apples BITCH!

    Fences

you are right. I wanted something maitenance free, but also not too expensive. I found a metal fence that isnt so bad in price. but really liked the looks of some of the vinyl ones. I also had nightmares of the kids cruising around on dirtbikes and snomobiles and hitting the metal fence. God, Im thinking way too far ahead of myself.

    Fences

anyone try vinyl fencing? I'm going to have to fence around the pool area, and was wondering how hard of an undertaking this would be? 8 foot sections, seems easy, I have installed chain link before...but wondering how strong would this be, and should I install it on the concrete decking, or the lawn?
  12. ahem...................... Still waiting for pics!

    My house project

Wow Todd! That really looks great! Adds alot of character.
  14. I got to see pics! If you lived in Northern Indiana, I would throw the skid loader on the truck and we would run out to help you! Let me know how that ends up going. Are you putting in round or oval?
  15. Thanks guys! I figured it out. I was using a larger resistor because the smaller one wasnt doing anything. But when I put the resistor in, the stupid speed clips werent penetrating all the way through the casing to the wire, so of course nothing was happening. I just spliced into the wire, and through out those stupid clips. Thanks for the help!
  16. Dammit! Its something else.
  17. Thanks Joe! I will try it on a charged battery.
  18. After my husband knocked my bike over and broke my new turn signals, I decided to upgrade and buy some LED turn signals to take their place. After plugging them in, and testing them, the turn signal light remains on...but doesnt blink. Read the instructions a little more closely and saw that I may need a flash controller, so I bought them and plugged them in. Still doesnt blink at all....just stay's on. WTF am I doing wrong? If my battery is running low, would this interfere?
  19. forgot to log in....that was me.
  20. I like this one too... 32x14 with an 8' depth... I think this one is only $18.000.00 even.
  21. This is the one I would like.... Its 40x16 with an 8' depth. it would look like this...... Did you know a fricken diving board costs around $600.00, for a cheap one?? What a royal rip-off!!!
  22. okay....did my research. I am getting pretty damn picky the more I start looking at this project. I was going to settle with the "liner" in ground pool, but since seeing the fully formed "fiberglass" pool, I have had my heart set on it. Seems like you have it made with the fiberglass. Doesnt require as much chemicals, dont have to worry about replacing the liner every 10 years (if your lucky). Easier to keep clean, and the shapes and sizes are plenty. Gunite pools are durable, but they require more maintenance than the fiberglass as well. I can have dan excavate the hole, and the fiberglass pool would be shipped on a flatbed to the house and placed in the hole....now the tricky part is backfilling with sand and filling the pool at the same time, and of course leveling the pool. once the pool is backfilled and filled with water, then the concrete patio would be the next undertaking. So I call to get a price of the pool I want......$18,500.00, the pool would be 16x40. I dont think this is too bad of a price.....wish there was a way to find a better deal, but looking around online looks like that is pretty much the price. Now the question for you all is..................anyone have experience with fiberglass?
